I'm as bad as everyone else on here but I am finding that the focus on averages is ruining the feeling of success in getting it right within 6 attempts.

Yeah, that's where I am. I just had one green in position 2 and nothing else on the first guess. An inspired second guess gave me all greens from position 2-5 which meant there was only one option for the third attempt and I was elated. Not just because I got it right but because it meant my average was below 4 for the first time. If I had scored a 4 I would have been peed off despite it being a success which isn't right

I changed my approach at the beginning of the week. I used to try to get it done in 5 minutes or so which meant that my second guess often contained a letter that I knew was wrong but I wanted to eliminate others. I now make my first guess when I get up and think about the next one while I empty dishwasher and make breakfast.

So, by the time I sit down to do it, while having breakfast, I have a word where all the letters are possible. I seem to have shifted from 4s and 5s to 3s and 4s since doing this. I still haven't got a 2 since my very first go though.

I then continue with my other Wordles the old way - so I still get 4s, 5s or 6s but am not wasting too much time

I've also changed my opening word - I used to use AUDIO, which I thought was smart as it uses four vowels but it's not that great. I generally get a vowel or two but that doesn't tell me too much as they've never been in the right place.

A battling 6 for me today.. had a combination of 3 greens on 3rd attempt, that seemed to leave me with any number of words..
