Wordle 228 appears to be a par 3.

I found the green (well 2 greens actually...) nicely off the tee and then three putted for a disappointing bogey 4.

If we’re using golf as an analogy I’m sure 4 has to be par. Yes there are some easier par 4s and probably today was one - yesterday too maybe

Debatable. Lots of 2s and 3s and a hole in one today from quite a small sample...

Agree that most Wordles are par 4s of varying difficulty but there are definitely going to be a few genuine par 3s and par 5s in the mix.

As NYT have paid at least a million dollars, Wordle will end up on the news site with ads and tracking, for sure. But if you were NYT, what would you keep/add?

KEEP
One puzzle per day

CHANGE
Randomise the next day’s word (to stop folk looking at code and cheating)

ADD
Better user stats – showing average score over time etc
Previous day stats – showing number of players; most-chosen first word; avg of all users to see how you compare (and offer as a newsletter)
Head-to-head mode – same game; just a way to compare scores with friend/s (maybe using email)
Needs a hashtag on sharing code for social media
A graphic version of the sharing code for posting on NSC!
