Recruitment certainly seems to be going better this year. We still need some creativity either wide or in a central attacking role
(both would be nice) and more depth at centre back.

I honestly think we should be Playing Kayal in that Central attacking role. With Stephens and Ince holding

The iranian Winger and a Pacey 2 million quid quality striker and I am full on full of optimism.

In total we need

A keeper
2 Centre Backs ( We have lost Hughes and Halford )
2 Wingers ( Pace )
1 Striker

That pacey 2 million quid striker is Baldock, play him up top with Hemed and I'm sure he'll get us some goals. Yes, that does mean playing a 4-4-2 (diamond imo)

I'm getting there, but I echo Stat Brother 's thoughts, until we seem some pace and productivity I'll be stuck at a lazy lob-on rather than full on aroused.

Are people deliberately not reading what I wrote? I acknowledged it's a ridiculous feeling. I've said it will end in tears. At no point did I say we would win the frigging league.

Anyone else want to misread it?

Bit early to say we're going up to be honest.

Im still very unconvinced we will play 2 up top, unless its for 25 mins and we are chasing a game.

A diamond leaves no room for pacey wide men... and I do think that is what we are looking at bringing in, the bids for the Iraninan guy and Murphy suggest that.
4-5-1 without the ball 4-3-3 with it is how we will attempt to operate In my opinion just with a lot quicker transition..... what do i know though, just guessing really.

To be honest, that's what I can see us playing too. As long as we find a formation where we score plenty of goals I'll be happy, too many Championship seasons have gone now where we just haven't scored enough. If we're going to play wide men, they need to contribute a lot more, Kaz pops up occasionally with a goal and an assist, but he's nowhere near consistent enough.

Fair to say though, our midfield looks like it could be one of the best in the league, providing they all stay fit

Me too.

We have a CM choice of Kayal , Stephens , Ince , Crofts , JFC . If we opt for 4-4-2 it will be interesting how we keep them all happy. On paper that is solid CM options so I can see us ditching 4-4-2. Concerns about the creativity though but no way can I see us signing another CM.

I think we will get one winger and then play 1 of Lua , March , New bloke with the other side more solid choice .

Interesting issue to solve , team badly needs creativity , pace and goals so I'm unsure what Hughton is ultimately thinking .

Old school thinking but good to see us getting some big lads in. Bit of physicality can get you a good few points

The sheer awfulness of last season plunged me into a pit of despair so deep that that three not particularly exciting (where's the creativity?) signings fail to lift me out.

I think Kayal would be mustard in that role. At the end of the season he really looked like he wanted to get hold of games and be positive, just what we've been lacking.

I do trust that is still to come. Failings in recruitment have been addressed. Hughton will have all the required tools at his disposal.

However, I'm yet to see anything from HIM that suggests he is anything other than an ultra-conservative managerial dullard. Its THAT which needs to change before I'll be getting especially excited.

What was dull about Leeds, Derby, Ipswich, Brum even Bournemouth I think we might of nicked until Kayal went off and to be fair we lost Baldock which was unfortunate for the last few games.

Also worth noting alot (including me) were happy after the late flurry of signings last year . . NSC will always be more positive about incomings than probably reality is. Worth bearing in mind.

Of the 3 , I'd say Rosenior would be the most guarenteed to be decent. Hemed lets face it is a risk so 50/50 , and Bong no one seems to know about. COG was the best player in a relegated side and has turned out to be toilet so again I'd say Bong would be a risk too.

Creativity still to be adressed and think we need a genuine signing that turns heads.

With the addition of our 2 Full backs and hopefully a quicker centre half I do think the intention is we will be able to defend 10-15 yards higher up the pitch.
This will make all the difference to our attacking play, in terms of the areas where we win the ball back and in getting our midfield and wide men so much nearer the front man than we have managed in years.
I for one would be tempted to try Kayal in that attacking midfield role, he has the quality to score goals and pick a clever pass more than anymore in our central area.
Another pacey wide man who can go past a player and deliver a cross is a must, but not easy to find.
Either way I am hopeful we will be much improved on last season.

Encouraged is the word I think. We have addressed some of our weaknesses from last season and brought in some interesting signings. We clearly need a injection of pace and a playmaker and probably a new CH. 3 maybe 4 good players but I think they will want to see some fringe players gone first. COG, Chicksen etc

All in all a pretty good start to rebuilding the squad...

It wont be, my guess would be that if Liverpool want to loan him out again it will be to a club in the Premier League in order to move him to the next level of his development.

Unless they are willing to sell him? I have my very optimistic hat on today
