Anyone else heard the rumour about Steve Claridge?

Spun Cuppa

Thanks Greens :(
He was manager of Weymouth for a while, then got a job as manager of a lower league team, whose name escapes me, where a player described the pre-season as 'nothing like I'd experienced before', so Mr. Claridge obviously didn't have much idea what the role involved at a league club ???

Didn't he hold some sort of record for getting the push at Pompey in record time? 20 games or something.

Missed the news on Blackburn guy? Any good articles?

S.C. might be good as a part time coach with them but HEAD coach of the youth/academy you're having a laugh surely!

He talks sense but certainly in our L1 days 9 out of 10 comments on any team at any level seemed to be, they should have done better/worse as are a top/lower budget team in that league. Much better last couple of years though and 1,000,000 times better than that Mark Bright bellend!

I seem to remember him playing a vital role in that game when we beat West Ham. Act as a distraction and nobody will be expecting Guy Butters to score.

It's a specialist role, I concede, and maybe it's no longer required.

Sadly not Lord B. especially now that Guy 'the tank' has retired.

He was brilliant that game. I don't think I've seen a player totally run himself into the ground for us before.

I'm sure the landlord of his local pub is delighted to know him.

And, whilst he was a player here, the Ladbrokes on Carden Avenue. The legend goes that there was a "I've given up gambling!" story in a national newspaper being read by the staff, as Claridge was punting race by race. :nono:

Much as though I dislike him, he was fantastic that day and it was a perfect lone striker's performance.
