Anyone else having problems with Hotmail on mobile phone?

I have an HTC Desire which using the normal e mail client usually lets me access my HOTMAIL.com e mails. However, over the last few days I cannot refresh to view any new mails and I get the message 'Alert - Network Error.

I can send mails ok from the mobile, I can access the account fine if I just go to hotmail via the browser and similarly its fine if I go via my laptop. I've also tried removing the account and then resetting it up again but no luck.

I would be grateful for any advice on how to fix.

The internet has just been odd today. Had lots of problems with online banking app on mobile earlier, plus issues with NSC. Reckon something in the core has been happenning.

Not sure if this will help much (my partner has the same issue and she hasn't been able to fix it), but at least you'll see you're not alone:

That is actually a relief that its not just my phone that's playing up. From doing bit of research there are suggestions that its linked to Microsoft trying to migrate everyone to Outlook.com accounts. As anyone who owns an HTC desire knows internal memory preservation is an issue so loading up the Hotmail app from Google Play is not really a slick solution.
