I can understand there’s all sorts of reasons for stopping going (cost, family, job, non league football is more fun etc) but PL Brighton really isn’t 3 times or even twice more expensive , it’s not hard to attend, and why have a season ticket if you want to shift em ? , and the inconvenience of tV and non 3pm games didn’t start in 2017/18 . in the Champ Rescheduled games due to TV etc, midweek were commonplace.
Why not just say you like non league more ? (PS: plenty of fans do both)

You’ve misunderstood again. If because of being the PL you have to miss loads more matches AND cannot shift then because of new club rules then it IS/DOES become 3 times more expensive on a match by match basis. Because you’re paying £x for a lot less y.

And this is the issue. People feel like they aren't getting what they signed up for. Especially families. My lad has used less than half his tickets as he's too young for evening games. A certain number is fine, but this season is ridiculous.

The club could do something, they could speak out about it. All the clubs are in the same position, if they spoke up for fans, then scheduling would become much more sensible (tonight could be 7:45 or even 7pm for example)

All the club do is parrot the sky mantra.

I think they'll be in for a shock when they see fans voting with their feet

? We’ve had 3 out of 13 evening PL kick offs. Of games so far/scheduled. It’s not “ridiculous “ or even surprising. Only Chelsea was on a school night.
(Palace, Chelsea and Brentford)

If he’s too young for 530 KO - on a Saturday! - then fair enough.

They spoke out about Spurs away by the way. They tried to get it rescheduled but the broadcaster declined.

Agreed. If you pay for a season ticket and don’t go then it’s not value for money.

Good point .....

Yes, have had a season ticket since first season back at Withdean, purchased two more since first season at The Amex. With my Son now playing in the SCFL I normally prefer to watch him and he doesn't use his as he's normally playing at the same time as the Albion, or same day!

So, what to do?

With the sickening way (Spurs away 20.00hrs, in the FA Cup, yes not Season Ticket impact but it's the way the games run) (too many 12.30 & 5.30 Saturday matches, games switched to Sunday and Monday) the TV companies rule the game and the fact that I can't give my tickets to mates so easily now it just doesn't seem worth it.

I go to a non league ground and pay my £7 and they seem to really need it and value it, besides which anything spent on food and drinks helps yet further.

My first trip to the Albion was in 1967, I joined the Army in 1979 and returned in 1992, when I returned I was still playing football.

Just fallen out of love with the establishment of the game, will probably still buy one ST, but I'll see.

Totally get this.

My daughter plays Sunday's and trains on a Saturday.
I went to Pagham a few weeks back although a bit shocked at £6, but it had a couple of stands a self-important ref throwing out cards as he struggled to keep control. Sin bins galore and a bar. The football wasn't quality but they were committed.
Also there were a few old boys with character chatting and drinking.....you can't beat the old days.
Perhaps time to revisit the true football grounds and watch the Albion on the box if we are going to establish in the top flight.

really tricky question.. I`m now 65, so mine less than last year however one son can`t afford to renew and other keen but moved away so questionable whether we will renew. I want to... but 8pm games may well swing the decision.

Ha! That said. Is 730pm on a Saturday night kid unfriendly?
I used to go to evening games as a kid ) a long long time ago) and I took all my lads to 745pm when we had em.
Saw loads of united dads with young lads at Old Trafford last night. - half term I think and probably the first game for some of em.

I think it's just that, you can relate to the people and you forgive the standard. Knowing some of the players seems to allow me to become more absorbed with it all and, having played at that standard, also helps (although it's not as good as it was in my day) :lolol:

Football, at that level, is living hand to mouth, if I go I normally drag along two or three others, we spend money on the gate, the bar, the food kiosk.

Did no-one go to football when we were in League One or The Championship? So many midweek games - which meant for me getting home gone 11pm and then getting up at 5.45am for a train to London and a full days work !

Football has not been a mainly 3pm Saturday KO for a long time. The season we got promoted we only had 10 out of 23 games as a Saturday 3pm KO

Can’t go, in part by virtue of being in the PL.

This is so true, fixture list comes out in June, how many of our fixtures have been changed / amended since then? People plan shifts, flights, holidays, hotels, train tickets around matches only for them to change. I'm fed up with the fan being the last thought, rather than one of the first.

Are you living in a shoe?

Fuel at the pumps rising, household fuel prices rising, general cost of living rising, NI contributions rising, interest rates rising etc. etc. 1 adult and a kid is £740 in the family stand, so you've pretty much got to give up £900 of your income before tax to pay for that, so 3% of an average income just on 19 football matches - if you can get to them all. Not sure you can label fans fickle for making tough decisions on what they spend their hard earned on.

Ok, Maybe not fickle... But I bet we as a club have more fans considering and giving up ST's than most other clubs...

Good that people on here support local football but please dont tell me giving up because experience is better. In last 3 years I have attended Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath,Hassocks, Lewes and Whitehawk. Enjoyed the visits but no where near the experience of going to an Albion game.
Can understand if you have an involvement with a local club but as a neutral the experience is no comparison to going to an Albion game

Pedant alert, but strictly speaking fixture changes are for the benefit of “fans.” You know, all those diehards in Korea and Malaysia. The ones who kept us going in the war years. Couldn’t get a ticket for away at Darlington back then because of the sheer stampede! The loyalty points you needed, cuh, it nearly broke the CRM system… :)

I suppose the question is whether you remain a neutral or start supporting the local club by going regularly. You soon start feeling the highs and lows of wins and defeats, who is playing well, who isn't etc. if you regularly attend enough. Not going to happen with the odd game.

And watching last night, you can't ignore the fact that even when we lose, we're playing unbelievable football and most of the games are breathlessly good.

I'm not giving mine up
