The reason I disagree is that the league wins we've had over the last 8 years have put us in the PL (best squad and play style etc that many of us have ever seen), so those league wins have counted for something, whereas all of the FA cup wins we've had in the last 118 years have counted for zero cup success.

At this time, the hope of staying in the PL and progressing as a club is more achievable than winning a cup is. In fact, our best chance of winning the FA cup, is to do well in the league so that we can continue to build and invest until such a time that our squad is capable of winning the FA cup.

Great example. Last week we lost in the last minute of the match, this week we won in the last minute of the match. As far as the league season is concerned it wouldn't have mattered one iota if the results had been reversed, the smoke goes up the chimney just the same
