I've used them loads of times over the years (and have a Rome booking - for July, not March, unfortunately - through them) and have never had an issue. Always been excellent for me. Sounds from reading some of the replies above that certain hotels might have had their systems hacked (some of the smaller ones seem to have ancient, wheezing systems held together with string and sticky tape, so probably not overly secure!!) so sounds like more the hotel's issues than anything booking dot com are doing wrong.

Any GENUINE requirements will show within your account on the website/within the app. ALWAYS go through that, rather than a direct message of any kind.

There's a theory to this stuff that the spelling and grammatical mistakes are entirely intentional because, when you're sending out a high volume of these things, you only want to engage with the gullible who don't notice detail.

So, by including obvious mistakes, you immediately filter out those who are likely to catch on, leaving you with those who might follow all the way through.

As there is generally a manual element to these scams, you only want to invest time in those likely to fall for it completely.

And in some cases, including all those little errors may actually make them look more legit because the legit service is badly put together...
