Whats it like, how much money do you need with a hotel for the weekend?

Shit circuit, shit view, horrific prices for everything from admittance to food and a race that is over in little over an hour. Also, long after rhe race has finished, and whilst everybody else will be watching England v Brazil in the World Cup final, you'll still be trying to get out of the car park.

Honestly, it ain't worth it.

Go to Spa in Belgium instead. Trust me.

I went in 2008 and it was a fantastic experience.

We went for the whole 3 days and enjoyed all the racing and everything else going on around the circuit.

We camped and walked in each day. I think it was £60 for the tent and car for the entire time (Wednesday to Monday).

I'm sure I spent quite a lot of money, but it wasn't as bad as I'd expected. And we got to sit opposite Posh and Becks (they were on the other side of the start / finish straight above the podium). Also got to meet and speak to Nigel Mansell and Johnny Herbert (raced a radio controlled car against him) and see David Coulthard close up.

As a one off experience, I'd say it's got to be done. Just not next year!

£60 for a tent and car? but how much for the actual stand tickets?

i saw some corporate packages a few years ago, seemed resonable until i realised they where for the practice... the qualiyfing and race day were a shed load more.

I'd vote for Spa too, and will probably go again this year, such a great circuit and reasonably cheap, even for grandstand tickets. Will probably do Silverstone as well, and the MotoGP there the month before.

tickets for silverstone are on sale now.

3 day General admission ticket (not in a grandstand or on the concrete hardstands) is £117 at the moment ( gets you 3 x F1 practice, plus qualifying plus race, plus all other races qualifying)
Race day General admission £103.50 at the mo.
Camping £35

I would assume that they would show WC final on big screens, they've done similar in the past.

I have not missed a British Grand Prix since 1993 - it is an essential event of my year as me and the missus have made many friends through camping over the years and love meeting up and indeed making new friends anually. It does cost quite a bit of money but is anything expensive if you really enjoy it? We always arrive on the Thursday and leave on the Monday morning so that we dont encounter any traffic. We have sat in all the grandstands over the years but the one I would reccommend over any other would be Club B, it really is a fantastic view and in terms of the amount of the lap you can see surely offers the best value for money. The facilities at Silverstone are not up to the standard of say Hockenheim or of course Abu Dahbi but they have improved significantly over the last 3/4 years. To save money on food, we just take a generator and a fridge freezer and BBQ everything. The fridge also keeps the beer cool!! They will definitely show the world cup on the big screens, the atmosphere in the circuit and at the campsite during the 2006 world cup was brilliant as we all watched several matches throughout the course of the weekend.

The tent and car cost was for three of us, so £20 each.

I think the stand tickets, right opposite the podium, were about £200 for the three days. You can sit anywhere for the first two days, so we sampled every stand.

Go to Spa in Belgium instead. Trust me.

I would go with that advice too, having only been to two Grands Prix...Silverstone in 88 and Spa in 92. The race at Silverstone was a wet one and it took us hours to get out of the car park, due to the car being bogged down to its axles...whereas at Spa we were on the grassy bank on the big climb away from the start finish line, before it was moved. I loved Spa as a place and have driven the two-thirds of the track that is, or was back then, open to the public when not required for racing.

I can see why drivers say that it is their favourite circuit, the Ardennes are stunning and part of the reason why Belgium in near the top of my favourite countries to visit...having lived there for eighteen months I take very little persuading to go back again.

Sports sports sports!
It's an awful circuit. Don't go. You can get package deals for...between £239 and £269. But seriously, I wouldn't waste my money.

I could just be saying that those because it was the 2008 Gp I went to and it was pissing it down with rain from 8am to 3pm...

Was tempted to go to this years with few friends however by the time we got round to looking at tickets they'd sold out :(

Am very tempted to go to Spa as will have finished Uni by then. Might take bit of organising if I can find few people to go with but will definetly do it in the future

Have been twice (quite a few years back mind - 2000 & 20001 possibly, but can't be arsed to check).

Ignore the moaners on here - it is a quality day out. My first experience was the famous mud GP, and was still brilliant. I'm not quite sure what people talking about views are on about, if you wanna see the cars hurtle past there are plenty of places, the same as any circuit, and a good number of screens to keep up with the race.

As for going abroad, it might be the better option, but if you wanna experience the British Grand Prix and support British drivers in your own country (or cheer on the Irish Jordans as it used to be) then its better than Spa or anywhere else.
