Went to Valencia V Alaves about 6 years ago. Got tickets from the club the day before without any problems.

Malaga can be difficult for the 'big' games. But as they have recently played Barca & Real many lower priced games are coming up....try for tickets here....Pea Internacional Malaguista
Warning- that's not so. And if they (or any other of the Spanish teams) are playing in the Champions League the following week they will DEFINITELY play on Saturday.
Malaga has a very high percentage of season ticket holders and is not a specially large ground, so it might not be as easy to get a ticket for their game as you think.
If you don't know the kick off times before you book something then go to Madrid, as then you've got a choice between Real, Atletico, Getafe and Rayo Vallecano, or you could then get a train to another place in an emergency.
I have been to Malaga a few times, and know 3 or 4 season ticket holders at La Rosaleda. For details go to Peña Internacional Malagusta The site is run by a good friend of mine, Chocky. There is a forum on there as well.

Missing the next 2 England games so want a decent 24-48 hour football related trip to make up for it.
Thought about Germany but no fixtures tie in with the dates we want to go.
Looking at Spain, but it seems they only "confirm" fixtures around 2 weeks before the game, and as we are looking to go on a Sunday obviously don't want to go to a city where the game will be a Saturday or something. Anyone had any experience here, or is it literally wait 2 weeks before to book, or take a gamble? Was hoping they might do a month at a time but it really does look week on week.
We are thinking about Malaga, so hoping tickets will be easy and cheap
Yes, recently went to see Barca play Athletic Bilbao. Cheaper to get tickets in town than to go via ticketmaster!
We prepared for the match by drinking pints of half red wine half coke with Bilbao fans for the three hours beforw kick off.
It's called calimocho - utterly disgusting and bizarrely popular all over Spain.

Real Bettis in Seville is fun but my favourite is at the other end of Spain at Athletic Bilbao. Stadium San Mamés is wonderful, the City is fabulous, the Pinxtos (Tapas) divine, the red wine delectable ,the Guggenheim spectacular.....say no more!
Go and go soon......
