I assumed Thomas Cook meant booked through them rather than Thomas Cook Airlines

I assumed he flew from the UK, none of those airlines who had A380s fly from the UK to Vancouver on an Airbus A380, if at all, as far as I am aware.

Twas a Thomas Cook charter, so it was a Thomas Cook / Air Transat flight.

I've just looked at their website and it appears that it was not an A380 I flew on, so ignore me!

I went on an Airbus A380 to Vancouver with Thomas Cook last year.

It was horrible, even though we went into premium economy the seats were crap and cramped, the entertainment system was awful and I still had a numb arse 3 days after getting there.

I think you'll find that was one of the ex-My Travel A330s.....the only airline operating A380s to canada at present is Emirates from Dubai and that is into Toronto!

Interested that Quantas has chosen to only ground the A380 fleet. The same engines are in use on the Airbus A330, Airbus A340 and Boing 777.

A very brave decision of QF to ground the fleet.

Apparently this airctraft had been undergoing major maintainence in Germany recently. There are going to be a lot of very concerned people in Toulouse and Derby today.

Tried that already, I want some first hand feedback

I have flown the Emirates A 380 and it is superb....quiet, seats are a little wider ,BUT they do cram as many people in as poss.
IF you can afford it go Singapore Airline....superb airline with the aded bonus of Changi airport !!!

I havnt flown long haul with either Air France or KLM, but i have heard that Air France is very average. Dont know about KLM !

have a look at Qatar Airlines.

New fleet, good value for money (£650 is only about £70 more than KLM I think) and better food, entertainment and service than KLM and AirFrance put together

Air France and KLM are no different. Both dreary long haul experiences. You have a long way to go down the list before you start to pick them for Asia. I am booked on KLM next week to Manila and am trying to change it to Vietnam Airlines. That tells you all you need to know.

KLM and Air France are very poor.

Qatar, Singapore both get thumbs up from me for economy.

Just far enough away from LDC
My only issue with Qatar is the Doha stopover. Rather have the Dubai with emirates one.

Not flown emirates but a mate that has a few times, was impressed with Qatar when we went to Doha. Probably would not fancy a big layover in Doha, but wasn't that bad. IF you have a big layover, I think they sort you a hotel too?

Air Transat-possibly the worst airline to cross the Atlantic with.
