In 1946, my mum was in the stands when the Cardinals won the seventh and deciding World Series game by one run, in the bottom of the eighth. Three outs away.
We had the World Series all but won -- one out away -- in '86. The camera crews were going down to the clubhouse for the celebrations.
In 1978, the odds against the Red Sox losing the American League pennant were 28 to 1. They lost, to the Yankees, in a one-game playoff.
In 2003, up by three runs, with no one on base, and five outs remaining in Game 7, the Sox contrived to lose to the Yankees.

1967, one game away. 1975, one game away. 1948 (mom saw that one, too), one game away.
Can someone please translate this into English for me.

We're perfectly fine, despite the draw, we have played alot better than previous matches, so thats something to build on. I said before the game today that I would take a draw. Sheffield Wednesday, I'm fairly confident we can win and the games against southampton and Huddersfield we have a home advantage.
Face it southampton are 2 games behind, say they win both of them they still will be 10 points behind, somehow i don't think we'll lose 3 games by the end of the season.

Well I wasn't there, but it looks to me as if we were all over them... 11 attempts on target from our boys and 9 off... I mean that's great stats. Our luck ran out today, which is fair enough, given our recent (prior to today) performances. I would suggest that Rochdale are exceptional at home, and clearly have a dangerous attack.

One thing remains certain: we are going to win the league and it will be soon.

Oh yes.

We're ELEVEN points clear of Huddersfield, with a game in hand. I know what you mean but realistically I don't think we need to worry just yet.

I agree, but there is no place for complacency;we are not mathematical certs yet and strange things can happen.
Gus wasn't very happy in his post match interview.....asleep at the back etc.Sounded like we could have wrapped it up in the first half, but on the whole a point gained as Rochdale are no mugs.
IMHO,we will go up but things may turn out to be a little tighter than we want! But hey, what do I know!

I agree with not counting chickens and all that, but if another team in a different division had the lead we have we'd have no qualms about saying they were certs to go up. I know we're not mathematically up but honestly we've got to be confident!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmkay. I was a bit concerned after we didn't win but thinking about it...we'd have to mightily fudge this up to not win the league

It's understandable, though. After eight straight wins, a draw feels like a defeat. But we are getting closer.

Franchise could have done us a massive favour this afternoon, but f***ed it up spectacularly. Still we are miles clear and as said above both of our 'challengers ' have to visit.

I'm sure the lads are timing their arrival for the home game on 23rd April and make it more of a memorable evening for all of us, and I just can't wait to see that Adkins' face afterwards. Relax and enjoy the run in

Last time we had a bit of a blip - which I believe was MK Dons away? - we won eight on the bounce - Gus takes it personally - It'll be sorted on the training ground this week

Personally, if I was one of our opponents in the last set of games I'd be feeling very worried.

If Saints win games in hand and then beat us it's only 7 points and then if Plymouth go bust it's only 1 point...

Slightly nervous but that's just me - I worry!

I'm glad we drew. We need to slow the pace down so we get promoted and win the title after I get back from my forthcoming holiday.
