I sold a load of public enemy & Run DMc 12 inch vinyl down at WAX FAXTOR in trafalger street got quite a good price for them as well
Most of my vinyl collection of 80s (ska 2tone Jam depeche mode etc etc I'd never sell) because that's all my memories growing up as a teenager, but vinyl I have from late 80s and onwards not really bothered about because most that has less sentimental value

If you listen to Kool fm there's a ad on there from someone looking for the exact genres you describe. I had 3 record boxes of D&B I had to get rid of when times got hard and I really regretted it as I had original presses of andy c's night flight/quest, Champion sound, Warhead etc.

Got loads of vinyl, mostly late 90s house music but also got a fair bit of mid 90s hardcore and drum & bass.

I am looking to sell most of it as I am moving abroad next month. Anyone fancy a flick through?

If not, do others know the best way to sell vinyl for a decent price, there are loads of gems in there and I am reluctant to let it go for nothing.

Love my vinyl. Probably got a few hundred now but am always buying and selling. Source it mainly on eBay plus car boots, charity shops etc
Not really interested in those genres unfortunately! Primarily mid 60s to mid 70s rock, folk and prog, plus mid 70s to mid 80s new wave, punk, post-punk, indie and electronica. Also like a bit of blues, soul and world music.

I could never bear to get rid of my vinyl, Is there nowhere you can store it while abroad? There is nothing quite like pulling a record out of it's sleeve, placing it on the slipmatt, placing the needle in the grove and hitting play. I'm sure there will come a time when you regret selling them!

I have spent quite a bit of time converting vinyl to electronic media for CD and iPOD. It takes ages, because you can only do it at 45 or 33 rpm, obvioulsy . . . . I have done this for only 'unavailable' stuff. Old 45s are generally not good enough quality to warrant the effort - you have to clean them up. But 12inch singles burn nicely. As (surprisingly) does some taped stuff.

I use honestech software for this.

I have some old John Peel sessions now burned, plus some nice mixes off the Misery Hour (CITR Vancouver), along with rare 12 inch singles/eps.

But, back to OP, I still have my vinyl - most of it in the shed - can't imagine parting with it. I hope some day someone will invent a laser scanner so you can just wave a stick at it to create a digital document . . . that would be progress :)

I will never ever sell my beloved vinyl collection, it rates right up there, behind my wife and kids of course, as my most treasured material possession. I add to it more and more nowadays with the ever growing wealth of new releases on vinyl (could the awe inspiring Random Access Memories sound any better than on the new porn "heavyweight 180 gram" vinyl, surely not?), and will until the day I die. Only on Sunday I had my kids (12 and 9) furiously getting down to all manner of old school cut and paste beats - Grandmaster Flash and Coldcut specifically - and then Jackson 5, Jacksons and Michael Jackson LP select cuts rounded off by a good old fashioned Peter Griffin inspired everyone die on the floor to my Surfin' Bird 7". It is my true faith, along with my family and the Albion (who can only ever rank 3rd place for me). Keep the faith fellow vinyl junkies, keep the faith and never ever sell.......

I used to do the same until the day came to sell up. Every buyer I spoke to laughed at the prices quoted in that book. They will buy unplayed records with pristine covers. Dont get too excited

I am keeping hold of some of my vinyl, it will go in my parents loft. However....

This is not going to sit well with some of you but vinyl is just a possession, a material thing and in the grand scheme of things is not that important to me. Over the last 6 months I have sold, given away and donated every book, DVD and video game I owned. I have managed to strip all my belongings down into 4 boxes. I am ridding myself of material possessions to work abroad, travel and see the world, I am sure the memories of seeing amazing sights will outweigh the ownership of some plastic discs.
