Going on Wednesday. Haven't really looked at it yet, apart from knowing I won't be backing Master Minded at that price.

No I haven't but I am going to decline (bottle if you like) the main reason being the Mrs Hove Born & Bred pleaded with me not to do it the main reason being she is 4 months pregnant.

Sorry there are potentially small risks apologies for not telling you sooner.

I would have half killed you by the way:lolol::lolol:

Nope - to my mind the day out at Cheltenham has deteriorated massively over the years I have been going and the fun is now largely lacking and I know many, many feel the same and have either given up or migrated to the Aintree festival.

Adding in the *yawn yawn* Credit Crunch into Cheltenham's efforts to stamp out on the fun, I'm not surprised to have been bombarded with email and paper mail from the course offering me every ticket going as well as discounted hospitality packages for every day, including the big one.

I hope everyone going has a good one, but I fear it will still be a shadow of the day out from a few years back.

I am planning to spend Thursday and Friday in a pub with a bookies outside. Just like last year.
I am prepared to consider new venues, however, and if anyone would like to nominate a pub for my 2009 Cheltenham week, here's my criteria;

Its in Brighton & Hove
Its got a telly that is showing the racing
Its doing grub, or there are eating options very near by
The beer is decent
There's a Bookies within a maximum 2-3 minutes walk

Going up on the Friday, it's a long but worthwhile day out with plenty of :drink: and poker on the way up.

Sounds like the Branch Tavern to me old boy ( I could lend you a flick knife) or the Engineer if you are quick on your feet down to BetFred or the illegal bookie still plys his trade in there.
