I live in Piddinghoe and I'm part of a committee that organises events in our village hall about four times a year. We have one on a Saturday night in July this year and I have been given the job of sorting some entertainment. It's not a big hall, only seating about 50 plus some outside if it's a warm summer evening.
I don't have a massive budget (about hundred quid tops) and due to limited space I don't need a five piece band with drum kit and mega amps etc. I need one or a couple of people to play either acoustically or with a small amount of amplication. The audience is average age about 45 so music needs to be aimed at that age group. I don't need a Radiohead tribute but also don't want a fat bird in a black dress singing Is This The Way To Amarillo accompanied by a bloke with a comb over on an electric piano.
We have a bar with a barrell or two of Harveys and normally a BBQ, so there are worse places for musicians to spend a summer evening.
Any offers or ideas?
