Petrol Quasqai 19 Reg 20,000 miles.
Clutch knackered, Nissan main dealer has quoted £1,400 and if the fly wheel needs replacing it’s over £2k. Are main dealers stupidly expensive or is that the price? In a nutshell, I haven’t got it

No idea but isn’t it covered under the manufacture’s warranty if it’s only 3 years old/20k miles?

If only warranties covered wear and tear items ....... Although I would fully expect a new cars' clutch to last more than 3 weeks past the warranty period! Mine has just started slipping and an original 2006 clutch. I can't really complain at that but the OP definitely has a valid reason to!

depends on the quality of the car, and more on the quality of the driver!

Given the mileage and assuming you don’t spend half your driving time riding the clutch, or at track days, I’d appeal to the manufacturer that 20k miles and just a couple of weeks out of warranty is unacceptable for a clutch to fail. Even if they don’t pay in full they should make a contribution surely? Japanese cars are supposed to be reliable,

All cars are meant to be reliable nowadays, or at least much better than that.
Anyway the car, if possibly not the clutch, was probably built in Washington.

I have a mate with a Qashqai, it costs him a bloody fortune to run and fails it’s MOT on something expensive every year. Seems to have premium parts prices on a car I wouldn’t call premium too

I think he’s still on his original clutch at 80k plus miles though.

Others have already said it all really, unless you’ve got some kind of extended warranty on the car that insists on main dealer servicing, the price the dealer has quoted is uncompetitive, but you’re well within your rights to ask for a contribution. Clutches shouldn’t fail after 20k miles.

If the dealer/Nissan U.K. are reluctant to assist, then I would definitely be looking elsewhere.

Someone above recommended a clutch specialist, might be worth going to them, as they may identify why the clutch has failed after only 20k miles, and prevent you being back with them in another 20k miles.

I had a similar issue with my 2nd hand Civic. About 4 months after purchasing, I was noticing the clutch slipping (about 20k on the clock). Took it to get it sorted and was quoted £900 (back in 2010) Kicked up a fuss with the main dealer I got it from and got them to replace it with a cost to myself of £200. Currently up at 140k miles now and still on this clutch. Never got to the bottom of why the 1st one failed but feel that it was incorrectly fitted when built.

to prove that it's overpriced, last year the clutch went on my Renault when on a weekend break on a bank holiday weekend. It went on the Friday just as we arrived at our destination (apologies to those affected on the tiny steep road in Newlyn as i had no option but to abandon the vehicle). Got it towed next morning to the only place that could do the job by Monday, a Halfords repair centre. Picked it up on Monday at midday - new clutch and fly wheel - cost £900.

I have a 2011 Qashqai+2 2.0DCI. Clutch replaced [including slave cylinder] for around £600 including parts, labor and VAT at Mr Clutch in Shoreham.
Would recommend them
