Type one over here.

Things like bread can be a tricky one - try to go for Granary rather than white or brown, the carbohydrates will be processed less quickly and will leave her feeling full up for longer.

Also, Couscous is quite good.

Don't know I'm right to give advice though, my diet is pretty bad.

Seems she'll be better after the birth though, which is good news

Type 2 myself and received a good easy to follow diet from the Dietician at the clinic. I'm just passed 81 and it ain't killed me yet, and I still have my daily Happy Hour with Canadian Club and water.
Best wishes for the big day.

Type 1 for last 14 years.

Jane Roche was the dietition at PRH in HH - can't believe she was the only one in all of Sussex. I say "was" as I've been out of the area for 5 years now and she may have moved off. Her husband was a GP in Burgess Hill and was into homeopathy.

Look for food with low GI (Glycemic Index) this is food that the body takes longer to extract the glucose (energy) from - aka complex carbohydrates - this will help maintain steady blood/gloucose readings - these need to be balanced between 5 and 8, but under 10 is not a disaster especially as this diabetes is expected to be short-term.

Good luck with the new addition ...
