The Herald is awful. The Vitesse is better, but very much a cruise and pose car.

Right back in the days of my mid teen yoof, there was one old girl trundling around the village in a white soft top roofed burgundy Vitesse, with white wall tyres and spoked wheels all in mint condition.

I swear she was oblivious as to how cool she looked.
But the fact that I can still picture it, some 35 years later, is testament to it's glory.

I knew a girl, a few years older than me who had a yellow Herald, nearly 30 years ago, I was desperate to test her rear suspension.

All I had was a Lambretta.

There are a few beauties there but if I had the choice the one I would probably choose to totally renovate would be the Rover 3500 Coupe.
It's like a gentleman's club inside.
Wheeler Dealers need to snap them all up.

I loved the old souped up fords with the extra dials and stuff.
Cortina Mk 2 1600E, MK3 and MK4 Crusader.
Escort Mexico, XR3, Cosworth etc
Fiesta XR2 etc
Sierra Cosworth, XR4.

Despite having had well over 30 cars of various types between me and Mrs Wz over the years, I still have a soft spot for sporty Fords. As company cars, we have had one of the first XR2s, a Focus ST and after we had kids and I had to go sensible, a Scorpio Cosworth Estate and a Mondeo ST220 estate.

Always wanted a Cortina Mk 1 for my first car, but ended up with a Sunbeam Rapier (with wings, not the fastback !)

I think I've had upward of 30 MK1 and MK2 Cortinas now . . . . just the 2 MK1's now, hopefully selling one soon, and after something different, and more gentlemanly, also built in Hove. I do miss a good 1600E. I've had a MK1 and MK2 Crapi over the years, never anything newer. I can't stand front wheel drive for anything spirited. We had Sierras at work in the early 90's, good cars. the MK2 Mondeo V6 we had 15 years ago wasn't a bad car, but since then I've had Subaru Legacys, brilliant , understated and under rated.

Fords are the working class lads vehicle of choice, which explains their scarcity and continued desirability. some of them are silly money now.

Had a couple of those 2.5 litre V6 Mondeo estates as well. Having also had various other big sensible estates (including the German ones) I still think those Mondeos were seriously underrated, although best build quality was a V6 3.0 Toyota Camry Estate that they only seemed to make for a couple of years.

We had the same too while Mrs Zef Giullietta was being serviced. same engine basically, but in a roller skate its a turbo nutter *******!

We have some friends who had an original 1964 Abarth ( replica) race car, I built the engine for them . . . . whom ever raced it always got out with a big grin!

Spent Saturday evening at Joe Macari's showroom; fabulous cars, one valued at £30m!

I used to have a chrome bumper MGB Roadster. I now have a BMW Z3. It's completely and utterly fantastic. A classic in the making.

I had a 1968 MGC Roadster, converted to take triple SU carbs and various other mods.
Had great fun back in the day.
Traded it in for a Daimler V8 250, another lovely car.
I reckon my favourite was a 1963 VW Split-Screen Campervan. Spent loads on it and it was in very good nick, but I sold it a few years back for far too little dosh, when my wife and I got a bit creaky and didn't really use it enough.

No service history or MOT either I imagine, possibly no engine either. There is a Lancia on there that looks very broken too!

I am just a little tempted by the Alfa GTV....that will be worth serious dosh when renovated.

Clarkson drove one of those Alfa's around Scotland in an episode of The Grand Tour last year, and was raving about it. Till the propshaft went. I think he (well, Amazon) paid about £10k for it.

Looked a lovely motor though, one with a bit of character.
