As the house is fairly new are there other houses made of the same brick at the same time. If so, see if they've had any work done recently and they may have some of the bricks laying around.

The house next door which was built at the same time has totally different colour bricks, and there was only the two houses built!

Personally I'd use an engineering brick to build steps

Going on that photo I don't think the original ones would make a good brick for steps

They're to build a two course "wall" to set slate slabs on as a step to the kitchen doors. The step I demolished in order to lay some nice slabs was built with similar bricks but I couldn't salvage hardly any. As they say in the trade, "It will see us out!"

Have you tried turning it off and off again ? Asking for a friend.

No, but I did try turning it off and on again. I still don't have the right bricks!

I used to be an expert at identifying bricks. I've hit a bit of a wall recently.
