Is there anyone on here who is based in Auckland? Have been here for a week now and don't know many people. Feeling the need to meet people who actually know about 'soccer' instead of all these idiots wanting to talk about rugby!:drink:

Best way to get involved with football people is to join one on the numerous local football clubs. Kiwis may talk nothing but rugby but there are plenty of them that actually play football. I turned out for the mighty East Coast Bays AFC when I lived there.

Auckland is great, Waiheke Island (just off the harbour, get the ferry) is amazing, especially at this time of year. GO!

damn it, i'm jealous!

Went to Waiheke island yesterday. Fantastic place. Unfortunately let myself down by getting rather wobbly on the beach and attempting to play 'soccer' with the locals.

Where are you located at Italiaseagull. An Xmas pissup might not be a bad idea. Hopefully we get the Spurs v Albion FA Cup game on SBS out here. Then we can really arrange a piss up.

Fantastic idea. Italia is in Sydney, I will be there from Christmas eve until 23rd January. Have to listen to the spurs game somewhere.

I will be on the Lions tour, getting to see the second and third test in Wellington and Auckland. Fiji before that for 4 days, and Sydney after for 4 days,..... can't wait.

I suspect there won't be any football talk during that three weeks, especially as it is close season in the UK anyway.

Went to Fiji for a week before I came here. You'll love it, it's the best place on Earth. Go to Mana island. I'm so jealous, wish I was there now. Careful with the sun though, I looked like a beetroot when I left, and I was careful and don't normally burn!

Spurs vs Albion on SBS? Didn't they lose there contract to Foxtel and therefore only show Champions League. If you hear any rumours of it being shown on Foxtel post the whereabouts....

Nah SBS have got the rights to the FA Cup back and will be doing a live game on the Saturday and the Spurs v Albion game is on the shortlist of 9. Id'd love it to be and if so we should get a few Sydney Albion together to watch it.

SBS don't normally televise the third round of the FA Cup. Their FA Cup coverage usually beings at the semi-finals.

Foxtel, as far as I know, don't have the rights to the FA Cup, except maybe the final which they show together with SBS.

Perhaps things have changed this season, with SBS losing the Premiership rights that maybe they decided to pick up the FA Cup rights. But I doubt it.

How about Manly for xmas pissup? Some great bars over on the Northern beaches, and could always catch ferry to the rocks to continue the drinking?
