a) to see how far he thought he can run. The bloke didn't even look like he could ran a bath.
b) to see the police take him down in one swoop
c) see if he stopped at the nearest kiosk for another pie before he got to the palace.

To be fair the 'fat bloke' to which you refer, totally lost it on Monday, he has since apologised.
