Because of the Lion Tamer legacy, most of the accountants I meet in life seem to go out of their way to drop in some seemingly exciting extra curricular activity they are involved in to the conversation. It's a profession that has carried that chip on it's shoulder for decades! Apart from the downright crooks of course. Amazing how an honest request for advice by the OP has ended up here. Piss takes aside the only two accountant friends of mine have had the last laugh in terms of salary. One of them has been the Chief Finance Officer at a number of big firms and at Purple Bricks he was on about £250k a year. Both friends are far from dull
