Sadly it's not really surprising given Israel's behaviour of late.

Fascist thugs are always looking for an excuse to wade in. You see it on different scales everywhere, even on here you get the right wingers like Pretty Pink Fairy and Bushy turning any thread they can into an immigration rant. Couple this with tough economic times and the Right wingers come creeping out thinking they are justified. Not a good time to be any ethnic minority anywhere in the world.

Are we meant to agree with everything that goes on in this country then? Seems to me only one opinion is allowed, love everything or your right wing.

Whats your opinion on this

Its wrong, but unsurprising. Obviously idiots worldwide assume that because Israel is committing awful acts in another country, and because it is a predominantly Jewish country, all Jewish people think and act the same, much like how idiots here all tar Muslims with the same brush with Sharia Law, terrorism/extremism etc.

The fault of this isnt on Israel, nor Gaza, but is only happening because of those on the far right wanting to discriminate people yet again, but yet people will of course use this to beat Israel with, even if this actually isnt their fault.

If you remember, there were a LOT of anti-Muslim attacks after 9/11, 7/7 and the Murder of Lee Rigby - you will unfortunately always get this used as an excuse in a way.

could someone create a spectrum of where all these extremists sit on the political scale, in my mind :

EDL etc - far right
israeli govt - far right
putin - far left
issad - far left
mulsim brothood - far left
nazi - far left
pol pot - far left

Take a LEFT and keep going.

Destination: TYRANNY.

Take a RIGHT and keep going.

Destination: TYRANNY.

Take a RIGHT or a LEFT and keep going until you see the signs for TYRANNY, then head in the complete opposite direction.*

Destination: LIBERTY :D

*(Nb. From this point on you must ditch the Right/Left compass, now that you see Tyranny in the distance , use it to find your bearings as you would the North Star)

You mean defending itself against rocket attack? Yes, that's terrible. How dare Israel defend itself? How dare they stand up to the terrorists who want to kill every last Jew in Israel? No country in the world would put up with daily rocket attacks. It sounds like you believe Israel should just sit there and take it?

With their 'Iron shield' defence ...along with the additional 3 billion dollars a year from the USA for defence...yes..they can sit and take it, without resorting to shelling 'targets' in the FULL KNOWLEDGE that they will be killing civilians..men, women, and cfhildren.......how many of these Brocks fireworks from Gaza getting through to the land of these disgusting *****?

Well to be fair, if they didnt fire back instead of firing and accidentally hitting schools then they might find more support and sympathy from people Worldwide, its the same for Gaza really - dont hear much about Hamas firing rockets though, all the attention is given to Israel.

Both sides of course need a slap and a sit on the naughty step.

You say that but Hitler and Nazi party started as National Socialist which was Far Left.

Hitler was opposed to both international socialism and capitalism. As with most fascist economies, he favoured protectionism and nationalisation of industry with the ultimate goal of autarky (self sufficiency), to a certain extent at least. National Socialism is closer to corporatism/state capitalism than leftist socialism. Profits were privatised, risk was socialised. Inequality and divisions between social classes was seen as beneficial.

Thank you for absolutely PERFECTLY illustrating my exact point, thank you very much indeed.

As for the article you linked, I would say that's fairly typical of the Chinese government. I don't think the outright banning of religious trappings is the way to go but I have a brother who lives in China, has done for 10 years and having visited I would say if you're a minority in China that's not white, wealthy and able to turn a blind eye to the governments actions you will have a rough ride.

Are you saying you would like the UK to follow suit? Because it really isn't the way to treat people. I get the distinct impression you would happily ban Muslims. Your way of thinking has had a little bit of support of late, a kind of reverse backlash what with the flare of Ukip, the acceptable face of racism but make no mistake, it's not right.

Once again (for the hard of thinking)....

Israel has its missile defence system that is nearly 100% effective. They have been blockading Gaza by land, sea and air for 7 years.

Just why do they feel the need to launch weapons of mass destruction into one of the most densely populated areas in the middle east? Defence? No, that has been covered above, must be genocide then.

He was comparing the current rise in antisemitism to current Islamophobia. Your numbers are a bit out of date.

Although that is not altogether accurate either. The number of recorded anti-Semitic and Islamaphobic 'hate crimes' are roughly equivalent for 2013 (529 and 582 respectively). However, this looks very different when one considers the number of incidents as a proportion of the total population (i.e. the relative sizes of the two communities in England and Wales). There were 146.94 anti-Semitic 'hate' incidents per 100,000 population and 20.89 Islamaphobic 'hate incidents' per 100,000 population.

There are of course significant methodological issues with this approach, not least that such statistics are based only on those incidents which are officially reported. It certainly doesn't account for the multitude of cases which are experienced by both communities on a daily basis which are never disclosed. Notwithstanding these statistics, it is clear that racist attacks are a major issue for both communities and this should concern us all. The literature on 'hate crime' suggests that the experience of hate crime is qualitatively more damaging for the victims than the equivalent crime not motivated by religious hatred. Such behaviour should never be tolerated, irrespective of events occurring on the international stage.

All fair points but I'd still say Islamophobia is more wide spread in general. See the comments below the Breitbart article and groups like Britain First on Facebook. I never see comparable remarks made about Jewish people.
