I have used trains all my life on an almost daily basis including in London - am sitting on one as I type - as I don’t drive - so can say this is by no means a unique incident - there’s no reasoning with the Teenage Chavinistas -

I would have said to the woman - just move elsewhere (for her sake) and to the teen vaper, smiled nice and friendly like and say on a quiet conspiratorial manner, ‘you know that could seriously f*** your lungs up right? Then show her this if she was still listening;

I don't think I've ever seen anything remotely like this in almost 20 years of commuting on the Brighton mainline - even travelling through sunny Croydon.

I think the issue I have with vaping is that people who didn't even smoke cigs are getting addicted, the amount of people I come across who are aged 18-25 who have never smoked but use vapes is astounding.

Seen several incidents in 25 years+ of commuting, usual commuter response is bury your nose in a newspape/ipad or stare out of the window and not get involved. If she was vaping and was told to stop it (perfectly ok but none of the clips seem to indicate this, only comments) that’s fine, but it’s virtually impossible to reason/argue with someone ranting that spectacularly so best not to bite in my experience. Would put money on her being a horrid little bully at school - will eventually come a cropper if she keeps up that behaviour

I got the train from Worthing to Brighton a few months ago, some chavvy moron was giving it large to a group behind me, I didn't hear how it started. One woman came over and tried to reason with said chav but was greeted with a lot of "you don't know me fam, f*** off" type responses.
I made the mistake of making eye contact during one of these episodes and was promptly threatened. "What the f*** you looking at bruv? You don't want none of this fam, jog on" and the like, to which I laughed.
He then got up and got in my face making the same threats. I said "try it, see what happens", so he swung a punch, I dodged it, grabbed them by the throat and slammed them against the other side of the train. The threats very quickly changed to "I'm sorry mate, don't hit me." Some woman jumped in and kindly escorted the chav off the train while I was high fived by another group that the chav had previously started on and was forced into moving seats.
I don't condone violence but sometimes these Muppets need to be taken down a peg or two.

I have gone and sat next to someone gobbing off like this deliberately, between them and their target, just sat, not said anything or looked at them, just sat, and it petered out.
Another time was about to interject with a loudmouth who was just being a bit ott with his volume and language with younger people he was travelling with, but then he said something that really made me laugh, so I left him alone hoping for another gem.

While I know it's often a bad idea to get involved challenging antisocial behaviour I just can't stand people acting with such impunity. Even if the only consequence I can bring them is an uncomfortable conversation where they tell me to f*** off.
Still to me the risk of a kicking is something I'll take unless I'm with the kids.
On the positive side I was thinking my ST was an expense I should cut, but as two of the Chelsea Muppets who went for me when I requested they stop the homophobic chanting now have to pay me £100 each I can still swing it. And they're not getting tickets to any match through a legitimate source for some time.

Think it’s totally fine to call her out. Nobody was raising their voice with her. Had few more politely called her out then I’m sure the situation could be diffused. Perhaps it was. Perhaps it wasn’t. Well done to the woman for calling her out and staying calm - assuming that’s how she started and ended.
