I've just reminded myself about some of the comments that the anti-falmer brigade used to post on the Argus website. Here's a couple of prime examples from just under a year ago:

William and Easybeaker - take a bow son :lolol:

All I see is a short road being widened courtesy of the taxpayer (SEEDA) and somebody playing mud pies with diggers.

Wasn't the steel supposed to have been delivered to the site by now?

Still that would need some real hard cash being put down to pay for it I suppose!

There’s no point in anyone here getting worked up or insulting or having an advanced attack of keyboard rage because that’s all a waste of time, energy and karma. Whatever side you are on in this argument you can relax because there’s never going to be a stadium at Falmer. The club has no money, the government has no more money, the city council has given its taxpayers’ land away and won’t give any more, the Blooms are fed up with pushing cash at a no-hope side, the LSC has had its finance pulled from under its feet so the fabled £35 million that so many idiots here imagine was on the table is even more of a myth. Anyone who knows anything about this project knows that the funding plan was laughable without any of those mishaps. So keep calm out there – once the roadworks on Village Way are complete they will only ever serve the university and the muddy field will be quietly returned to its farmer. Conference football will, however, still be available at Withdean.

It's the vindictiveness that really winds me up. To a degree, I can understand opposition to the stadium being where it is. But these people actively want our club to die, full stop.

And EasyBeaker writes with such authority, doesn't he....?!!!

I'd love to see those quotes reprinted on the front page of the Argus alongside a picture of the Stadium as it is today!

As ridiculous as Easybreakers comments seem now, you do have to wonder how close it came to him being correct. Had Bloom not self funded the build, it would have all fallen apart.

We are so lucky to have Tony Bloom, and that could be the understatement of the decade!

The thing with the second one, he makes out there was never any money available, but he seems to have missed the period of slight economic uneasyness around the World that had happened right at the start of the process. Such bitter and sad fucks, the lot of them.
And don't forget, there were a few who peddeld their acrid beliefs on this very board, telling us it would never happen, for the same reasons, well, f*** the lot of you, I will raise a glass to you all in August 2011, from Row D, Seat 143, West Stand of the Stadium that never will happen. :)

In fairness, they were nearly right!

If they had not got the Bloom's position, or should I say Tony Bloom's position wrong, there would still not be any chance of Falmer.

So, thank you Mr Tony Bloom for making our dreams come true. The remarkable transformation in the style of play and results on the pitch is a big bonus at this stage.

Sorry to rain on your parade Phil, but you'll not be allowed a glass, there.

Who can forget the epic battles with Septicman / Antifalmer which spilled over from the Argus comments sections and messageboards onto these hallowed pages.

Good times.

Exactly. Alrights its happening now but it very nearly didnt and no one at the club would admit it. Not exactly a situation I feel like crowing about.

I didn't realise it at the time but bloody hell, am I glad he was waiting in the wings with plan B.

That's not taking anything away from DK who, despite his lack of mega-funds, managed to keep things going and obtain planning permission for Tony Bloom's takeover.

Massive thanks to both of them.
