What a strange comment. Unless you are involved with the club in bringing in new players how the hell do you (or I, or anyone else) know what is going on behind the scenes.

It gets a bit tedious that in every transfer window the club are seen as dragging their feet if a player hasn't signed within a day of the window opening. Surely if terms and contracts need to be sorted out and agreed then it's obvious it's going to be behind closed doors and under wraps.

A bit of patience is required, methinks, by some of us in this matter. Trust the club, they seem to have done alright so far this season.

Compare this to our rivals, Derby. Who have completed 2 big money transfers already, netting both of their targets and have admitted they are now DONE unless they sustain any injuries. While same old story for us

Looks like local press saying they turned down 2.2m Euros from a second tier English side for a few hours now. Leicester journo then speculated it was us and picked up by others.

Not strictly true.
The club had 2 players lined up before the window opened. May not be the most exciting signings ever but Ridgwell will help a lot and Towell maybe something good yet. You don t always have to spend millions for a signing to be good.
The club have clearly tried for Calleri and it sounded positive but appears he is owned by multiple people.
Seems to me currently we have a list of targets and we are making bids and enquiries. Derby a hand appears to have been forced by Sheffield Wednesday bidding. All we can do is offer what we think players are worth

How boring it must be to be on Derby forum. All done on 6th, when we could have another three weks of pointless speculation, sightings of Messi at Lancing by someone's uncle's brother's dog, anxiously awaiting arrivals at LHR, wondering why Winstanley has charged his phone only four times in the last three hours, The Lizard holds his nerve and keeps NSC full of BS, it's great. Enjoy!

I know what you mean. Is it really impossible for the Albion to get big money signings lined up pre the window opening? Yes we got a loan player in and an untried gamble of an Irishman. It's hardly a sign of intent is it? As long as we have players in place by the next League game that would be OK, but it would be good to send out a message to the other teams "from our position of strength"

1 is a loan for 5 weeks which we absolutely needed due to injuries. We wouldn't have been targeting him 3 weeks before then!
1 is more of a long term investment and absolutely a good start.

Not at all but one is a short term loan and one is untried, am I wrong then?

I will be far more impressed when/if we sign a striker who can score regularly at this level, otherwise we have no chance of promotion.

You set your sights as low as you like though.

We should have just gone straight in with a 6 mill bid, in cash, thrown across the Liege chairmans desk at him with disdain.

That would have shown REAL intent.

To be honest, he is right. Our rivals are signing Championship strikers with 12 goals so far this season. We've signed a midfielder from the Irish leagues

As long as we sign the striker to be ready for Rotherham, it doesn't really matter if it is today, tomorrow, or Friday.

Anyway, he'd be a massive upgrade on VLP so it does seem that we are aiming high even if we fail.

Remind me, how often does a Peter Ward come along? In truth we've signed enough non league rubbish over the years since, one must come good soon by the law of averages.

Disclaimer I am not suggesting he will be rubbish, just making a point about the vast majority of our previous gambles.
