I think he may be a bit fragile and we don’t want to send him home more injured than he has been here. Not sure he has really settled in (absence through injury will not have helped), nor that he follows RDZ exacting instructions on the pitch. He’s a good player but i am not convinced that he is a real fit for us, especially as Barca seem to value him so highly.

Be honest, if it wasn't for the Barca connection, Ansu Fati would have caused about as much of a ripple based purely on his performances in the Stripes as, say, Jeremy Sarmiento or Deniz Undav

This. Seems far more likely to have been a gamble on the player kicking on in his rehabilitation from injury and making a major contribution to propelling us into the business end of multiple competitions. Ultimately didn't work out, but worth the imaginative punt shirley?

I don't think that is true at all. He's 21 and scored 4 goals for us in what, 11 appearances for us before his injury? Twice in the Europa league. Then hasn't been the same since. If he was an academy graduate I think we'd all have been very excited about him- we all got excited about Connolly's 2 goals in 300 games at that age.

Given at half time Ansu is often alone on the pitch warming up with a coach it’s even odder he doesn't get game time.

This, and at the end of the day, let us be honest, we do not need him, we are not pushing for Europe and he rather hinders the team when he plays.
Apart from a couple of good performances early on, he has flattered to deceive and definitely he star shone to brightly and it seems he is comet rapidly fading to obscurity.....

Agree. Was starting to look very good until the injury. Unfortunately that seems to have effectively ended the opportunity for him and us.

Interested to see where he goes next. Barca have no chance of getting what they might have wanted, and he’ll need to take a big pay cut if he wants a move and wants to play.

He was signed as cover for Enciso. Now Enciso is back we don't need him. Perhaps if he had stayed fit and was a better option than Enciso he would be playing, even starting. It probably just feels rude to dump him from the match day squad in favour of an academy player.

I have just kinda assumed that maybe they've internally had word that he won't be coming back next season, therefore as I think RDZ has probably seen the season as over from not long after the Roma game, he feels it's more valuable to give those minutes to developing our own youth products?

Yep, that's possible. It's almost the opposite of last year where he had a love-in with Colwill (which he couldn't seem to shake off this season because he kept bringing him up!).

I saw one of the 'expert pundits' complaining about RDZ starting with Offiah and O'Mahony the other day, but I wouldn't be surprised if (in a non-interfering way) TB/DW suggested giving them game time for either a) the experience or b) the possible increase in value. It happened last year with Ayari, the Aussie fella and Facu, so I figured it's plausible.

Although we could be sat here next year and Fati's returned and had an OUTSTANDING season for Brighton. You really never know.

I'm the same as I remember just how good he was and been gutted how it's worked out this season. Wouldn't be disappointed at all if he did come back.
