Precisely. I can't comment on Hemed yet, but I'm confident that given the ammunition Baldock will be a 10-15 goal striker and Colunga and O'Grady could be around the 10 mark.

If not, there will be strikers available from Prem squads. Afobe of Arsenal looked quality today for example. Can't see him getting much action unless on loan...

I disagree, come the window 12 or more clubs out of the 24 will then be in the same position and wanting to grab a striker as their plans haven't worked out.

I'd say it's more important to build the team now, Hiughton has already expressed the need to assemble the squad now. Personally I'd go down the loan window route only in the case of short comings and injuries.

It really depends oin what quality is available now at the right price as opposed to what quality could be availableduing the loan window. A good exmple is Benik Afobe.as mentioned. Without pushing a point what would GM cost now and if not in CPFC 25 man squad as a loan.

Don't necessarily agree with this. CMS and Best have obviously both gone. O'Grady probably will go or be fourth choice as he barely scored last season. The one I disagree with is Baldock. He looked good at times, despite playing out of position, and our season went downhill after his injury. With a decent strike partner, I'm confident he'll score goals for us.

But I simply can't see Hemed n Baldock playing as a pair of strikers, more likely that he'll put Baldock out wide which is ridiculous - we need a proper winger and Baldock will be sub most of the time - still don't get why we bothered signing him especially for 2m??!!?

On the last bit, I completely agree with you. We chased Baldock all summer last year and then played him out of position for most of the season. Very odd. I do think Hughton may well try 4-4-2 with two of Baldock, Hemed and another new striker with the other being on the bench and O'Grady as back up.

Whilst I don't disagree, I think the problem was as much with supply as with shooting.

Not sure about that. Unless my memory's incredibly defective, the ill-fated Hyppia period last season was not entirely bereft of scoring opportunities, just a combination of gaping defensive holes and a frontline who struggled to hit the proverbial cow's backside / banjo / barndoor / take your pick. If we'd had anything close to an effective striker in those games we'd have had a FAR more comfortable points haul come Christmas.

Oh of course, my preference is to do it now but in terms of priorities, we desperately need to fill in the blanks behind a striker first. If a striker deal comes to fruition first, happy days but I'd rather we get in a couple of wingers and a creative number 10. Thankfully, I imagine we're working with numerous targets across the positions.

Benik Afobe has played for Wolves since Jan! I think you and the previous poster mean Chuba Akpom who is the lad that came on against us for the last 20 mins.

Decided to resurrect this thread, as I still see ANOTHER STRIKER everywhere. After signing Uwe, I feel our defence is sorted. We absolutely need wingers, no doubt about that. But more upfront? Hemed, Baldock, O'Grady, Colunga, Harper, Hambo. Assuming we will play 2 upfront, that is 15 different variations of strikers we could play. 1 more Winger? A must. Two wingers? Yes please. 8 Strikers? I can't see the point. We have to trust that Hughton has bought well in Hemed, Harper and Hambo and only time will tell-but unless Hambo and Harper are not for the first team at all and O'Grady+Colunga leave-we surely have enough. But reading Hughton's words on O'Grady's future and the role he expects the youngsters to play-I'm not so sure that will happen.

Two fast and skilful wingers who cant put in pin point crosses, and another very good quality striker then we are sorted, and only then.

No more strikers, unless COG and Colunga go late in the window.

Agree with you here.
What has CH said about O'Grady's future?

Exactly, in which case it is more or less certain to be loan as it is highly unlkely we have a striker's agent on notice that we'll pick up the phone late Aug if we ship out but in the meantime don't bother considering any other options for your client.

Doesn't every team. Wonder how much he would cost this 20 goal striker? ???

No idea what one would cost. Could be fairly cheap if we look abroad. Teams that go up normally have one. We don't
