Reading several posts re the Leeds game, in particular players ratings I cant understand the despondency. We were playing Leeds United. The best team in this division by a country mile. It was no great surprise that we lost.

The reason why Leeds are so good, is not just because they can play but they also stop other teams from playing. That’s why they have only lost a couple and let in just 8.

Leeds are what we need to aspire to. Its taken them 3 seasons to get into this position. If we are serious about promotion to the Championship then I would think its gonna take us about the same length of time to achieve, hopefully less though.

We will need better players than the ones Slade has (or been allowed) to bring in in order to compete.

Spot on. Particularly the bit about stopping other teams from playing.

I was expecting nil points from Saints, Leeds, Norwich and Charlton so I’m more than satisfied with 3 out of six so far. Leeds are the best team in this division by a country mile so I don’t think we should dwell on that defeat too much.

Norwich is a massive game for us tommorrow and i'm confident we can get a point.

Totally agree Diffbrook. One of the co-presenter's on SKY (can't remember his name) said that Leeds have two or three very strong players for every position on the pitch. That's what we have to aim for and we're a long way off that at the moment.

Completely agree. Leeds performance on Saturday was the best I have ever seen from a team at this level. They will walk this division and I wouldn't be surprised to see them challenging for the play offs in the Championship next season.

Very strong in defence, fluid controlled attacking football in midfield and a strikeforce with pace and potency. Hard to see them losing many games this season and I can only think they had a complete off day against Millwall.

It was so handy getting all those annoying debts written off, so they could assemble this squad which will romp its way back up to the Championship. Nice one.

Much as making an apparently Leeds-sympathetic point might grate, they did rather take the scenic route, didn't they? In the course of two seasons they were docked 25 points, and this is their 3rd season down here so, you know, as quick and dodgy fixes go, it was a bit of a slow one ...

Leeds will finish 2nd to Huddersfield this season and when the Terriers come here you'll all see why. Leeds, obviously, are going to be one of the best clubs in the league and obviously are going to be able to upstage clubs like us in our current state. Maybe we could have given them a game had we been able to field Kuipers and McNulty and had Poyet had the time to get the team playing the way he wants them to. I'm not too concerned by the result in the slightest, it was inevitable.

my take on it is put leeds in the championship right now and they would be no better than a mid table team, and thats how far atm we are behind our ambitions,a country mile. Poyet and co have thier work cut out big time to get this club firstly promoted and then secure in the championship, but for the 1st time in eons we as a club are going in the right direction, leeds are not all that we just payed them far to much respect and they took advantage of that.imo

I agree - Leeds have the quality of a champioship team. We should not be to down about this result, we only have to play them twice this season and there are 19 or so other teams in the league who belong in this league who we should be looking to pick up points from..

They're still a conniving bunch of thieving cheats in my book, I don't care how long they've been down here.

Easy... we are talking about the Chairman in reality though aren't we. Don't suppose the staff and players should be tarred 'an 'all.

I agree. Leeds are fantastic, and people shouldn't be putting us down because we lost to them. Yes a draw would have been nice, but just thoroughly unrealistic.
We need more time, and then we can beat teams like Leeds. It just isn't instantanious.

No, the staff, players and fans wern't party to the shenannigans which have gone on in the past, although they are of course now benefitting from it. I'm sure there are once again some lovely juicy contracts in that Leeds dressing room these days.

Leeds, as a club, are a disgrace. Quite how Bates can be deemed as "fit and proper" to hold the position he does he anyones guess, being as we still don't know who actually "owns" LUFC. But then football authorities are never particularly competent at actually applying their own rules are they.

I'll be glad to see the back of Leeds from this division. The stench they eminate is quite suffocating.

Good post, and I think it's probably how most people feel, I just couldn't be arsed to post about my indifference to the result. All of the outrage that we lost is coming from the usual suspects.

Agree with first post. I wasn't at the game, but listening to it gave across the impression that we had an off day and Leeds had a performance that their manager later described as the best of the season. Added to the fact that they are already a class above us was only going to result in one outcome. Quite frankly I can't believe threads are being started about whether our entire squad is good enough/how we need another clearout. Last week was not a fluke. We beat one of the top teams in the division with a measured performance. In relation to the aforementioned threads, how can anyone say Elphick and Tunnicliffe are definitely not good enough?! Would they have said that last week? On Saturday, we seemed to play badly and were beaten by a better team, end of story.

My view is that it is too easy to say we played badly. Sometimes, no matter what you try or how good your football might have been, superior teams/players won't let you play well because they are sharper and simply have more talent.

The only way we could have done any better on Saturday was if Leeds had had an off day. The quality of our play was totally dictated by the superior quality of theirs.

I kind of meant that. Obviously I wasn't there, but listening it seemed that a combination of us playing badly AND them being better and playing well was what gave them the win. We'll be fine. We've got a good manager and, contrary to what everyone else says, a decent enough squad of players.
