Another important player to arrive next week (possible captain)...

Captain Kazenga? ???

In my opinion it points to either:

a) an experienced, seen it all, done it all, striker
b) another experienced center back to partner Greer

I can't see Gus handing the arm band to a winger, and neither can I see another central midfielder arriving seeing as we already have Kish, Spaz, Dicker and Navarro

I can't believe Greer won't be captain. Did it sound like the prospective deal was close?

From what I understood Gus was asked about Greer having the captain's armband today, and if he was likely to be captain for the season. Gus said he had made a decision and an anouncement would be made soon, that Greer was one choice but there was also some others - one being a player who hasn't arrived yet.

Let me stress that this is what I understood from the conversation, but as you know Gus' post match interviews with all the background noise can be difficult to understand sometimes! Did anyone else hear the interview?

Could it have just been his way of fobbing the interviewer off, without committing himself. I would be suprised if it is anybody other than Greer as captain or possibly Sparrow for the next 2 games.

What I meant was Lua Lua hopefully will be with us soon (fingers crossed) and I would suggest that Greer imo would be the obvious choice as wearing arm band!

From what it sounded like Gus was implying that the player to arrive could possibly be given the armband, so presume he isn't talking about Lua Lua in this case...

Unfortunately I would agree!

Kevin Phillips
:dunce:

Seriously though, an experienced striker that will put away chances based on the games in pre-season i've seen and read about is just what we need. We are not clinical enough at the moment.

If its a striker it would complete a decent squad.

100% agree.
If this "important player" who obviously has a decent pedigree to be considered for captain is a striker, we have a very strong squad. Providing we get Lua Lua or a good quality left winger, ill be very happy.
