Another EU Referendum Thread - Sorry

But it is important: I just really wanted to plead with anyone on this forum who has yet to register to vote, to do so online by tomorrow. The deadline is June 7th and millions of eligible voters have yet to sign up. Regardless of your opinion, this is such a big decision that it really needs as many people as possible to show up. If you think your vote doesn't count and can't be bothered, remember that there will be a few people in your neighbourhood who will be thinking the same thing. And those in your town/village/suburb/district/city who also can't be bothered.

I am really hoping - and would genuinely be happy to lose the vote - for a >70% turnout on referendum day (inc. postal votes and proxies). I'm never normally so preachy, but this is bigger than the local elections, the Scottish independence referendum, the AV referendum, football, World's Hardest Creature, renaming the NSC banner... this matters more than general elections, as this sort of vote will not reappear in 5 years time.

There are thousands of registered members on this site, yet the In/Out poll has gained fewer than 600 votes in two months. Whatever the result, I would honestly hate to think that it doesn't represent the true feelings of the majority of people, just because tens of thousands preferred to watch Jeremy Kyle or porn all day on the 23rd. It takes almost as much time to register as it does to read this post and roll your eyes in boredom.

Obviously if no one replies to this thread it will get pushed down faster than a dodgy korma, so everyone will be happy.

The result is a foregone conclusion so many won't bother to vote. A whole generation have now grown up convinced that they are European rather than British. Our individuality and identity has been slowly and surely eroded and the powers that control world affairs are loving it. Its like a big boys club with privileged members. A massive bureaucratic gravy train earning huge salaries for hundreds of thousands and money pouring in every day, to squander, waste and lose. Its an operation that is so corrupt, so riddled with deceit and fraud, that it hasn't had a set of accounts signed off for over a decade. It protects and strengthens big business and the Establishment. It revolves around Germany, who pretend they don't call the shots but are, in fact, in complete control of everything, just as they promised in 1945.
We can't leave this union. Our economy will go into recession, jobs will be lost, prices will go up and the peace that has reigned throughout Europe because of this union will be threatened......is that really the best they can come up with?

I feel your resignation as a 50 something, but I will still make my mark, just have to on this once in a lifetime occasion.

Need to register before midnight today.

But not everyone will be bothered and will be happy to live with whatever cards they are dealt.

However, I don't see why they don't register and take the wonderful opportunity to scrawl ' Farage, Cameron, Gove, Osborne, IDS and Boris are liars ' all over their ballot papers :lolol:

I'm happy to be European and British (and English, and Sussexish). If you think our identity has been eroded then you clearly don't travel much, as the different identities of different European nations, including the Home Nations, are still strong. And a lot of this is supported by EU funding, including teaching of minority languages such as Cornish, Breton and Gaelic, which were previously previously oppressed by their countries' governments.

This view is quite clearly nuts. The reason why I'm calling it nuts is that the referendum result is on a knife-edge, and whichever way it goes, my prediction is it'll be close. Your claim that the result is a foregone conclusion for some strange reason differs markedly from mine, and indicates that the count won't be close.

Feel free to bounce this post on June 24th.
