Adams style was high tempo, kick and rush football which I agree can be good to watch but at times Wilkins team played some lovely football. You are right though, it is subjective I would rather watch Arsenal than Man Utd purely because both play attacking football but while one is combined with high tempo play the other (Arsenal's) is at times sublime.

I remember the football in the first season at Withdean being pretty dour, but in the 2000/01 Championship season, the team played with some real flair, particularly down the left wing. I agree that Wilkins' side played some excellent football at time and was at a loss to know the gates at Withdean went down this season. 12 wins and nearly 40 goals at home is hardly shabby and was not down to luck as some on here would have it. The problem, I suppose, was that the players could not always sustain a high standard of football over 90 minutes. Whether that was down to Dean's motivational skills or just the fact that these are 3rd Division footballers, I don't know.

The money spent is a fair point but....

Would that make you feel any better at the end of the season as a player for arsenal or a fan of arsenal?

Its got to become if you cant beat them join them in footie.

Loom at the albion...we had to spend 300k on a striker...you dont see that often from us.

of course the Arsenal players and fans feel agrieved they won nothing, look at Flamini and Hleb, they will probably win something if they stayed with Arsenal, but have chose to move on as they have won nothing since they have been there.

The £300k spent on Murray came more out the blue than Adams re-joining us, but I cant help that sort of money will not be available to Adams, but if it is, then great and a hectic 90 days lies ahead of us until the 1st day of the season

To be honest I dont think Adams will need that much money to make this team a success. We have just finished 7th and the core of a good side i there, we just need that added extra of a couple of new faces plus adams determination and motivational skills....we will do well.

When he took over before the squad did need a MASSIVE overhaul and thats what he gave it,as you showed in your exhaustive player list of that season.

I think adams will attract 3/4 decent bosman players from a higher grade to take a step down. each club is offloading 5+ each and in some cases up to 10 players.......and I feel adams is the perfect man to see the blend of what we need for success.

Considering the majority of them had a MASSIVE impact on our success it just shows what a hero adams was that season.

until he played against us for Lincoln

"Useless" was Alan Cork's assessment of Cameron when interviewed post match after a particularly shit Albion performance. Not sure if that was before or after the urban myth of Cameron decking Cork

I was at that match at Lincoln and it was the most one sided game I think I have ever seen, their goalkeeper put in a world class performance and silky dave scored a second which he found out had been disallowed after a really extravagant celebration

I don't think Murray is THAT lazy. He just looks it. If you watch him he actually runs the channels quite a bit. And he wins nearly everything in the air. He'll be alright.

I like him and think he adds a touch of class to the side. He's by no means the finished article though and I think that Adams and Wilkins, if he's still around, will work on improving his all-round game.

Is it just me, or does the word "decent" in football speak actually mean "bloody good"? It seems to have crept into commentaries and MOTD punditry in recent years("He put in a decent cross"....)
