Does anyone else feel that Adams will be able to attract a higher quality of player?

If you look at all the decent players being released by championship clubs that we usually end up missing out, I feel with the messiah back then it will defo be easier to get them in.

No disrespect to Wilkins he did get some decent loans in. But with Falmer 2 years away and now a more well known manager back at the club....especially on the back that everyone in football knows what he achieved the first time. The vibe factor around the club is growing by the day...adams will get us higher gates and imho a better quality of football. Players will want to part of that and attracting the players we need to get us up will be a much easier job in my opinion and I am very excited about the new term.

I'm taking notes about all those that are ecstatic about MA's appointment as I don't want to see any of them calling for his head after 5 games next season.

I've got your card marked BYF :jester:

Forster, Whing, Murray, Racon, Richards, O'Callaghen. Westlake not high quality players then?

There's no doubting the quality of those players but there is an optimism that Adams will be able to bring even better players in. When DW took over much was made of the fact he has contacts all over the place through his brother. If he stays on then we have the luxury of a 2 pretty good sets of contacts through Adams and Wilkins.

Racon, richards and westlake were all loans, which I pre-mentioned were good..but its permanant signings we need...we need stability not losing a player after 8 weeks due to him being recalled.

Forster, whing and murray are decent players..but when you have someone in charge who is not expiereinced enough or tactically astute then it all goes a little sour.

I dont feel wilkins would have been able to attract the sort of player we need to sign for us that would have taken us up...obviously something which fortunately we will never have to know either.

I'm not convinced MA will get better players in than Dean Wilkins managed. However, if he's handed a bigger budget, I have a sneaky feeling that might help.

I agree that he will be able to attract some higher profile players, but I also think that with Falmer agreed, we would have been able to do that anyway.

We can debate it until we are blue in the face, but the fact remains that we have Adams in charge and we have two options.

1. Get behind him and give him all the support we can, hoping that he leads us back to the promise land; or
2. Moan like hell that Wilkins was treated badly and spend the next season picking holes in every thing that Adams does, be it good bad or ugly.

I am still undecided if it was a good move or not. But at the end of the day, the decision was made. I am a Brighton fan and would be a fan no matter who the manger was. So for that reason I am going to get behind the team and give Adams and whoever else is there all the encouragement that I can.

So how much money has Adams got then? Is it more than Wilkins was allowed?
Of course we are going to have to play the loan market, unless we get incredibly lucky with the free transfers.

We havent got money to burn, and if you want him to add a new look to the squad, it is not going to be by buying players, he can attract LOAN players, like any other manager

Wilkins signings have been the best this club has made for years imo, MA will have to go some to better them but as Simon Morgan says he may get more out of them or rather get them to be consistent and more motivated from the off.

Good point Simeon. Did DK not trust DW with the healthy budget which mysteriously now appears - so soon after the annuncement of the 2.8m loss.

How would I know how much money adams has got??

Im really aiming at the bosman market, player at the higher level who have been released. Adams has been watching championship footie most of the season with colchester and also has been scouting for stoke...so he will have a good iidea of what a player is like.

they are but i still feel micky will attract players easier

the one thing that does worry me abit is micky isn't exactly renowned for bringing through young playersin fact imstruggling to think of one he has bought through anywhere

I like the sound of option 2.

It does make me laugh though, I forced my way through Naylor's gag inducing article and he claimed Wilkins struggled with player recruitment?? He made quality signings throughout his time here, if the players he brought in constituted struggling presumably Adams will be signing Ronaldo and Kaka any day now??

I would half agree with you. I think a more factually correct statement would be: Wilkins Loan signings have been the best for years.

Murray has yet to prove himself on a regular basis.
Thompson - I dont rate the gate

Whing and forster are quality

so whats the difference if Wilkins signs some young kid we have never heard of from a Championship club, then if Adams did the same thing? Why is the Adams one automatically higher quality??

You were calling for DW's head from the very start, but you won't be calling for the head of MA at all? Is it just managers that you want personally, that you will support?

I was stating the fact from the start that I didnt think he was the man to take us forward and that employing an inexpiereinced manager wasnt the answer and it looks like the brighton board including Dick Knight agreed with me.

I will support anyone who gets us playing well, I'm not alone...hense gates of 5k...

I want a passionate manager with a proven record...at last we have our boy back. I never had any confidence that wilkins would be more than an average manager and a step backward for a club looking for a BIG future........
