[Football] Annoying goal celebrations

What I find most annoying are those players who wear under-shirts with messages on, who then reveal said message upon scoring a goal.

Not content with Twitter / X they force their agenda / virtue signalling upon the world.

The dull part of the south coast
Why is it EVERY single goal is now celebrated with a sliding knee skid across the pitch ? EVERYONE. The 8 goals of March, every one. I don't remember this being done in 70s 80s 90s but now it is boring tedious and predictble and it cuts up the pitch. Just STOP
Do a knee slide on the pitches of the 70s 80s and 90s it’s a fair bet you’d end up in quagmire of quicksand or break your kneecaps on a concrete hard playing surface of compacted mud.

given how wet the pitches are during a match these days, I am always surprised the groundskeepers dont throw a fit when two furrows 10 yards long are ploughed into the surface after every goal. Its amazing how the pitches stay as good as they do right to the end of the season

It doesn’t help when RDZ knee slides in celebration. Not many managers would do that.

Also, I thought VAR was brought in to stop goal celebrations as it’s not the same after waiting 7 minutes in the pouring rain for Jarrod Gillet to confirm he was 0.3mm onside.

How I wish there’d been 50 furrows 10 yards long over the last couple of months at the Amex.

All part of the look at me culture that’s taken over. Let ‘em, they’re kids or just about after all and being in a bubble are unlikely to have any self awareness. Everyone in the stands just thinks “cock” silently anyway.

Instagram has a lot to answer for here.

I know for a fact that players know where official club photographers are going to be stationed and ensure that they celebrate in front of them, so they get some good shots to share with their adoring public just as soon as they get home after a match.
Even the U-21s and U-18s do this!

Adebayor running the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of the Arsenal fans for Man City remains, for me, the ultimate troll celebration

You expected originality of thought from football players?

It took a 1 million percent increase in salaries to get them to move on from the 1970s and the backstreet hairstyles and teeth that spoke of deep deprivation: like this:

The knee slide is a fast track route to f***ed-up knees.

Clever players slide on the front of their calves.

Or better still, at 1 min 57 seconds.....

Last season, Albion U-18s drew 2-2 at Palace. In the second half, Albion 'keeper Tommy Reid saved a penalty from a Palace player.

Unfortunately about ten minutes later Palace were awarded a second penalty. The taker was a different player this time - Cormac Austin. He scored, and celebrated like this:-

What a complete and utter bellend. Tommy Reid is a stronger-willed individual than I, because I'm sure I would have been tempted to knock Mr Austin into the middle of next week.

Palace chose to use that photo to lead their report on the game (and "front" the video highlights). What a desperate, scummy, classless mess of a football club they are.

Cormac Austin - remember the name.

I offer you Van Hecke celebrating Dunk's goal against Palace as a bit of soothing moral balm - at 3 minutes in there wasn't really enough time for the Palace player to aggravate him that much to make it personal, which makes it all the more special.

Also, Maupay in front of Palace fans is one of my favourites of recent years
