Shit. I stopped in my tracks when I read this on my phone and still feel teary now. She was a true legend. I will always remember the intro to her Sunday show the day after we beat Charlton 7-0.

Indeed. An Albion fan as those of us who used to listen to her show on Sunday afternoons in the late 70s can testify.

Also used to drink in the HeBe pub in Shoreham.

Damn, that's very sad news. Like many on here, I grew up with her around and our paths crossed on many occasions. I also recall Alex coming into the (then) Northern pub - now Hobgoblin - with a snake around his neck.

Remember her doing the Sunday night show on radio 1 and recall vividly her playing Towers of Dub by The Orb and Jungle Bill (Weatherall Mix) by Yello. I went out and bought both the next day.

Very sad news, true broadcasting legend. Listed to her desert island discs a while back and was very interesting and reflective, some great music selections - obviously. Seem to recall her mentioning a song that she wanted at her funeral, I didn't know the classical piece but was very moving. She will be sadly missed.
