Casper Ankergren kept five clean sheets in eight games in March and has been as important as the strikers at the top end of the pitch.

He's proved a lot of doubters wrong this year, including myself. His distribution has improved no end and there has been no better shot-stopper in the league. He has repaid the faith that Gus showed in him after their short spell together at Leeds, well done Casper.:clap2:

Agreed, but there are seven or eight contenders for POTS, all of whom would have won in any of the past six seasons.

He makes far too many errrors for my liking and isn't dominent enough in the air with crosses, I don't think there is a player I have spent more time complaining about all season. He has 1 good attribute he can play with the ball at his feet.

There are at least 10 others ahead of him for POTS

He has made 2 obvious errors all season? One at home v Rochdale and the misjudged cross away at Hartlepool. Highly rated Joe Lewis has made double that in the last month, give the guy some credit.

Although he will not get the award , IMO he is the main cog in Gus s passing game . Very assured on the ball .Casper is also a top shot stopper. Kuipers was a legend.....but long live the king !!!!!

He's behind El Abd, Bennett, Murray, Calderon, Dicker, Bridcutt & Painter in my opinion

He has made 2 errors that you can remember have cost us goals.

He doesn't command his area well enough and considering how well we have passed the ball I'm gobsmacked at the amount of goals we have conceaded that should have been avoided. I think a fully fit Brezovan, although not so good at passing the ball about, would be a better option

Praise to the back 4 mainly. Ankergen parrys and pushes far to much which will get punished more in the Championship. Can see why Leeds got rid.

Happy to keep him but would like to see another keeper come in .

By all means let Ankergen start the season but I think he will cost us

Very good on the ball though....cant deny that

Any keeper will make one or two errors in a season. Caspar has been consistent throughout and has certainly won/saved us more points than he's cost us, by a long way. Two saves from Akinde against Daggers on Tuesday were top drawer, as was his free kick save near the end.

Yes, there are times when I wish he'd catch crosses rather than punch them, but no keeper at this level is perfect. He is a quality player who will do us proud in the Championship. Unfortunately, keepers rarely win Player of the Season, but he's played a key part in our record-breaking season.

That misjudged cross at Hartlepool was more the fault of Greer than Ankergren.
I was gutted when Brezovan was injured as I didn't like Poke, but when Ankergren arrived and played so well, I knew we had a good goalkeeping team. How many other keepers do you know have kept so many clean sheets (ok the defensive back 4 helped) and then got Player of the Month twice in one season?

I think if we had played Brezovan all season we wouldn't be up just yet

Last season Brezovan kept 9 clean sheets out of 20 (45%). This season with the B team he kept 3 out of 7 (43%), one of which was against a team from the championship .
This season Ankergren has kept 20 out of 41 (48%).

I honestly would not be surprised if Brez had kept as many clean sheets if he had been playing the whole season with the defence we've had this year. And I imagine keeping that many clean sheets would have led to him winning the player of the month too.

Having said that, yes. Ankergren does deserve credit for the part he's played, but I agree with the phone in guys and the commentators, this year we have been a great team, I don't personally feel we have one star player that carried the team. He does have tendency that make me worry for when we play better teams, but either Poyet agrees and will replace him, or he doesn't and we'll see next year if Casper can work to eliminate these.

Quality keeper at league one.

But he is not a good shot stopper. Most of the goals he has conceded this season have been tame pot shots/long shots that he simply doesn't get a strong hand to.

Brilliant passing, distrubution and one-on-one saves though.

Obviously, other than the couple of absolutely top drawer saves during Dagenham (H&A), Rochdale, Notts County, Oldham, Tranmere and Brentford? I was unconvinced at the beginning of the season but I thinkhe has been superb over the last few months. Remember, he has no pre-season.

His save down to his right against the Daggers on tuesday was superb!

Seemed to be a bit of a hate figure on here for some reason. Lots of people seem to have changed their opinion now... He does punch a bit to much for my liking but his ditribution is great and he is a good shot stopper. Anyone who says he hasn't been crucial to our success is wrong. His ability to play the ball with his feet as if he was an outfield player is great!

His goal kicks are awful, they always head wide and often go out for a throw
