Ankergren - can't make my mind up

I'm fairly concerned with Ankergren in goal as I don't think he is commanding enough of the penalty area, but Gus has said he isn't lookin for a keeper so the best I can hope for is someone of better quality is available on a free or a season long loan as I don't think we will be spending money on a GK

I think we could struggle to find another keeper who fits in so well with our style of play. As already mentioned, he is so calm on the ball and has brilliant control for a keeper. Using him in the 'sweeper' type role when passing it round the defense has been integral to so much of our build-up play and I doubt there are too many keepers at this level who could do a similar job without a fair bit of training.

Also, Gus and many of the coaching staff seem to rate Michael Poke really highly. At the relatively young age of 25 (for a keeper), it could be that they hope he will progress to challenge for the number one spot.

Saw the thread title and thought that Ankergren was considering a move!

He's OK but shocking at crosses. Will be a good enough keeper for Champ I guess and we have lots of L1 standard depth, but we are aiming for better than either OK Champ or L1 surely?

Noticed a poll on the leeds forum the other day. Think it may have been from a while ago. Basically was asking who was better for them. Kasper or Casper. Result was exactly 50 / 50, so they certainly rated him. Personally I would prefer Scmichael (sp) myself.

I have no problem with Ankergren at all. But if he is injured/badly out of form, I am not sure we have a suitable replacement. Brez- decent league 1 keeper, Poke I am not sure about him at all.

Ankergren isn't the best keeper we've ever had, however he's vital to the way we are trying to play the game. He'll be our number 1 next season for sure.

Clearly a load of mixed opinion before the season started, it is a shame the worry has become real. I get even more nervous any time Casper goes anywhere the ball (or it goes anywhere near him). Can't be arsed to wade through the threads, but don't recall any realistic names being mentioned as a replacement yet - anyone know of any decent names for keepers that we in with a shout for?

Tbh can be hot and cold, but you don't want that from a keeper. He's okay for now but we'll have to sign a new keeper soon if Brez is our only other option

If it is your first post how come it says 138 against posts. (I probably still don't know how NSC works!!!)

I say this and (sorry for other views) but I agree with your view.

You are absolutely correct, apart from numerous posts on NSC, Leeds United said it and I am saying it he is no way good enough !

Best bit of business GP could do would be a new GK !

PS ! I mean a replacement !

PPS ! I expect to be shot down in flames for this post but fact is fact !

It probably was his first post at the time and he has posted 137 times since. Failing that maybe he meant his first thread.
