I think if we were to sell kuipers because of henderson coming in most fans would be very upset and it would only increase the amount of anti MM feeling. With leon i can see why MM disliked him but chel has always been a model professional since he has been here and hasnt fallen out with any other managers even though he may not have been number 1 and always worked hard to get himself back in the team.

But if McGhee is trying to build a decent team for the future, we have no room for sentiment. I suspect Kuipers is one of the highest earners of our squad and to be frank, if we can get Henderson who is just as good, if not better for cheaper wages, then that would be ideal.

One could say that Kuipers has peaked and it will be downhill from now on......

I will miss him as I have fond memories of watching him play.

Not as if the McGhee haters would change their mind anyway.....

If Henderson comes in, I can see why they are looking to offload Kuipers. Kuipers injury record is not good and at 31(?) there chances are he is going to have more issues. He must also be a higher earner and so an expensive bench warmer.

But more importantly, We currently have Kuipers, Chaigenu (sp) and Martin as professional keepers. Pressuming the French guy goes back to Rennes in the summer, that would still leave us with Kuipers, Henderson and Martin, meaning that it would be difficult to offer Sullivan terms. Now the fact that he has representative honours for England suggests he is a good prospect and would come back to haunt us. If Kuipers goes, french keeper goes, that leaves us with Henderson and Martin, meaning we can sign Sullivan and then loan one of him or Martin out, whilst the offer plays for the reserves and builds up a splinter collection during first team games.

Of course if we do not sign Henderson, then Kuipers should be retained.

I think youv'e hit the proverbial nail right on the head here ...

Had the same dicussion with a Mate after the game on Saturday. Chaignau is nowhere near the keeper that Kuipers is so what you have said above must be the reason why MM is giving him the cold shoulder at the moment ...

In principle I can see the long term benefit, I just think that Flo is going to cost us a few points if he gets an extended run.

I accept the points about him being an expensive bench warmer but it seems a shame the way he has been discarded at the moment to give the frency a run in the team as well. Just a shame to see such a good professional given the hard time MM seems to be giving him at the moment.

You are assuming that we will keep both Martin and Sullivan... I believe you will find Everton are after one of them...

Andy Woodman is their No 1 keeper but he has been around along time witha number of clubs so must be considering retiring plus he is out injured with an achilles problem.

If we sign Henderson it makes good business sense to offload FDM for virtually the same money and get a goalkeeper who is as efficient in most departments better in some and younger. The problem is Henderson or his agent agent f.....g us about. MM should sort it NOW not tomorrow give them a choice sign or the deal is off.

but is henderson gna be efficient, whats to say he wont unfortunatly be involved in accidents, like crash a car, or get his shoulder done.

i say we need to be spendin this money in other departments because we have two good goalkeepers and a poor team.

Don't they say a goalkeeper doesn't reach his peak until they are about 32-34?

MK is only 31. I think he has the abillity to play premiership football. I always thought he would be the first to be prized away before BZ & Cullip during our div 2 chamionship season. It was his saves that were keeping us in games.

If you had Kuipers shot stopping ability combined with Henderson's confidence and distribution, you would have a world class keeper.

Send back sulky Chaigneau and let the other 2 fight it out. Hendo will be a sound footballing and business investment.

I know it's been said before, but I think the FDM has had a real
bum deal from McGhee. He performs brilliantly over several seasons, almost certainly winning us games, then sustains a
bad injury in the line of duty. He fights his way back into the team,
looks back to his old invincible self and then gets dumped:nono:
I think it's a poor way to treat such a good servant to the club and a decent guy ...

As a previous thread has discussed, he is due to go there on loan.

That spoils the MM slating that everyone is joining in with like sheep.

Chagneau goes back to Rennes in May. That is a fact. Rennes don't want to sell him so it was always going to be a season long loan.

If Michel goes to Rushden it will be on loan and he will be back here as number 2 or possibly number 1 with Henderson.

Well Martin has been linked with both of the mickey clubs at some point and is still here. It might be a case that he sees his development as being better here, as the he is likely to get a chance sooner, especially as we seem to be able to knacker about 4 keeper a season. Actually why is that, do they do shot stopping training in the car park?
