Never really rated him for us, but think he got better with age - a bit like Niall Quinn, who looked gawky when he started with Arsenal, but matured into a very good plyer. Seem to remember that Ritchie was good for Leeds as well as Oldham.

I remember him scoring a bloody hatrick AGAINST us for Oldham in a 6-1 defeat at Boundary Park

It was the plastic pitch what dunnit!

That season Oldham found it very easy to win at home - few visiting teams could cope with the bounce, and having to play 5-a-side indoor football on an outdoor 110yd x 70yd area.

Despite the score, I remember enjoying the game - nobody's chin dropped, and we had a lot of the game, but strikers just couldn't hit the bouncing ball.

He seemed a bit lightweight with us, not at all like the all action, never stop running, terrier like player he became.

We never saw the best of him.

gave Brighton a mention on MUTV last night which for some reason is available over here along with Everton TV which is presented by a fading Elton Wellsby

OK it was during MUTV poker tournament with ex players such as Robson, Albiston, May, Thomas & Irwin. Richie when interviewed said that he hadn't played the game for 25 years since he was at Brighton :clap2:

I don't remember enjoying it much at all. I also recall it being bastard freezing. One bright spot though, was that the best of the 7 goals was our 1, a 30 yard free kick from Wendy.
