Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
He's an absolute legend. A winner and a really engaging, bright guy.

His response in this press conference is wonderful and a great moment for equality:

He was knighted for his work with UNICEF since 2014. and is the UK Ambassador. A legend indeed.

It's an undocumented fact that Scots will support anyone playing against England, it's their heritage and culture, but many choose not to be quite so public about it.
It's a documented fact that Scots will support England playing against teams other than Scotland as my Scottish friends did in the World Cup against France for example. Maybe the poster doesn't have any Scottish friends and so isn't aware of this.

Not doing much for those of us with hip replacements and who want people to feel sorry for us on the golf course or ask for a seat when we feel we need one,

If it's the "joke" where he went to watch Jamaica Vs England football friendly wearing a Jamaican replica shirt and supporting Jamaica - yeah, hilarious, my sides still hurt now!

I admire his sporting achievements, but I still think of him as Scottish first, British second [and a bit of a nob too]

aaaa hahahahaha.

This is hilariously wrong.

He is one of the most respected players (current and retired) by fellow pros for his views on equal rights etc and this is just within tennis.

What a nob he is.

I have never been a fan of his after his comments about the England football team, but I have to say he does now seem to be a decent guy who is grafting very hard to keep playing the sport he loves. Fair play to him.

It was a joke made to Tim Henman in an interview over 20 years ago.

He's Scottish - why would he support the English football team ?

Ultimate respect for him as a tennis player.

I watched his documentary resurfacing on a flight. In awe of his grit and determination but his personality really grates on me.

Almost like a parody. Kind of a dour Scottish David Brent.

Yes they do, but he quickly picks up a St Andrews flag, rather than a Union Jack in the main when he wins. (I would in his position as well).

Murray Really does live rent free in some peoples head.

British tennis champion Andy Murray has revealed he didn't like it when Alex Salmond unfurled a Scottish flag after his historic triumph over Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon last year.
In his most pointed comments to date on the Scottish independence debate, Murray added that he had been competing for Britain for 16 years, and that he did not know who he would play for if there was an independent Scotland.
Murray said in an interview with the Sunday Times Style magazine that he met the first minister when Ireturned home to Scotland after the US Open in 2012.
"He seemed perfectly nice to me but I didn't like it when he [Salmond] got the Scottish flag up at Wimbledon."

The Olympic gold medallist added: "I started competing for Great Britain when I was 11. I'm 27 now and I've been competing for Great Britain for 16 years."
Earlier this year, Murray said he would not comment on the referendum because he did not have a vote himself. Speaking at the BNP Paribas Open in March, he said: "I don't know a whole lot about politics, and I have made that mistake in the past and it's caused me a headache for seven or eight years of my life and a lot of abuse. So I wouldn't consider getting involved in something like that ever again."
Murray was referring to the furore that followed his joke before the 2006 World Cup that he would be supporting "anyone but England".
A spokesman for Salmond said: "Andy is reigning Wimbledon champion and a great Scottish tennis player. He has made it clear a number of times he doesn't want to comment on Scottish politics. Everyone should just accept that and let him get on with playing tennis."

Yet he still sports the flag - funny that some people don’t see it. Talk is cheap, actions speak louder.

But as per my earlier post, fantastic player and athlete….
