I warned an Orient supporting mate of mine that bringing in Whing would be a mistake, I thought when I saw him play last season, notably at Griffin Park, that he was dangerously unreliable at key moments.
Apparently on Tuesday night Orient were cruising at 2-0 up away against Colchester. Then Whingy gave away a penalty and Colchester came back to win 3-2.

Russell Slade may still rate Whing, but I don't....

Give him a break, that was probably his first appearance for months so chances are he's not match sharp.

Yup, and a penalty isn't worth 3, unless he gave away 3 pens. No chance the rest of the side had anything to do with the other 2 goals then?

he's not a patch on Calde but give the guy a break, he's seen no first team action in months, he might be a bit rusty!

Bloody hell, so he gave away a penalty, do you even know what for?

I fail to see how its Whings fault that the other 10 players on the pitch went on to concede another 2 goals!

That's not correct. Whing conceded the penalty after Colchester had already pulled a goal back, and were apparently causing havoc in the area. There was no surprise when they went on to win.

He wasn't our player of the season for nothing a couple of years ago, and I can only applaud the way he's kept with it despite Poyet overlooking him. He could have easily thrown a wobbly - esp when Poyet left him out of the squad at Villa last year.

I must admit that I heard exactly the same. He was getting roasted on one flank such that Lord Russ switched him in the scond half.

But you seem to be forgetting, Lua Lua was complete and utter turd for us on Tuesday night, it's a wonder Gus didn't move hime to CB, or even goalkeeper part way through the 2nd half

There must be some kind of compulsion among certain Brighton fans to find something to moan about. We're top, playing superbly and the stadium's nearly with us, but still there's got to be something, hasn't there? I know... I'll have an entirely unneccessary pop at a player who gave his all for this club, isn't even here at the moment, and is unlikely ever to play for us again.

I quite like Whing actually. Not too long ago he was one of our better defenders. It's a shame he isn't a Poyet player, possibly down to his attitude more than anything. Good luck to the lad.

I agree fully with your first sentence, but the second could not be more wrong. His attitude is absolutely not the issue - Gus himself, had called him a 'great proffessional'. He will never be a Gus player, because he is not comfortable on the ball. End of.

I think you'll find it's Orient that are useless, don't blame Whingy. Bet he turns into a bit of a cult hero there within a month

And a bit slow.

Totally agree though about his professionalism and generaly be a nice guy. I bumped into him a few weeks into this season and said he was disapointed he wasn't playing but said how great the fans had been to him.

MK Dons away a couple seasons ago was his finest hour. The rest had given up and gone home, accepted relegation and he put in one hell of a shift. Spent the last 10 minutes singing 'Number 1 was Andy Whing, And number 2....etc'.

Was the right player for that moment but the club has moved on, and unfortunaly Whingy is League 1 quality and we're looking at Championship quality.
