Where the f*** is the SIMEON one?

Unfortunately, since 1900, Simeon has not featured in a top-100 boys' name list.

There were 39 Simeon's registered births last year, though.

The Random Pamphlet of... Simeon could be on the cards...

I have been thinking of your choice of names and who your target audience is. John, for example, while immensely popular once has fallen down the popularity list - there won't be too many Johns in the under-45s. Are you aiming at the older market then? I note that you don't have Daniel or Jack, two very popular names in the last 20 years.

I think I'll have a long wait for Maxwell though :lolol:

Good point.

Essentially, the data I received from the Office of National Statistics was from 1900 to 1990.

Assuming that the oldest potential reader would be around 90, and the youngest around 20, I had to chose names between that timeframe i.e. 1910/20 to 1990.

The names I chose are the most popular over that time.

Jack has been number one in the baby name list since the mid-90s but never featured above 30th place in popular name lists going back to 1900.

I am writing Daniel at the moment and have commissioned another four for release next year.

That's because it was a variant of John - my grandfather was John but was universally known as Jack. The most famous Johns who were known as Jack are probably President Kennedy and Jackie Charlton - it's not something you see now.

As an aside, it's interesting how many names that were nicknames/diminutives have now become names in their own right: Jim and Harry are other examples.

I am writing Daniel at the moment and have commissioned another four for release next year.

Ah, if you have a need for a journalist with 25 years of writing experience, you know where to find me :lolol:

Do you have need for someone who can choose a typeface where some letters and words aren't ripped the piss out of? :)

To be fair, Al, out of all the national press coverage, radio air time, local newspaper coverage and reviews from eminent writers and industry professionals guess who the first person was to mention the 'P' word.

An Albion staff member - then NSC!

Typical!
