Calm down, he just spanked us , would he have said that had we won ?

This. Always easy to give a pat on the head to a team you just beat, particularly to a fellow manager. Tho reckon they genuinely do feel the need to bolster each other, because at one time or another, each one of them's been on the receiving end of some pretty shitty stick. No matter how successful, they've all been there, had that

It's funny you say that. I've been thinking about Micky Adams over the last few days, which is really, really sad. When he left us in 2001 to be the assistant at Leicester in the Premier League he was highly rated. He was expected to be a top manager, and he did pretty well with them when he took over as manager. But it didn't work out for him and he didn't manage in the Premier League again.

I'm not saying that's the case with Potter, but maybe in 10 years time we'll look back on this spell while Potter is managing in the third tier, bouncing between clubs every year to 18 months always being just short of success.

No way.

Not saying (well, actually I am in general but not quite related to what I'm about to say now) he is or will necessarily become a PL top manager, but he wont be bouncing around in the English third division. Any team in Scandinavia would love to have him and as with any manager who is successful in a foreign country, the door to the rest of Europe will be open. The Europa League season with Östersund is, for the forseeable future, guaranteed to keep Potter out of whatever level this Micky guy is coaching at currently.

On their day, you aren't going to beat these teams by trying to match them. You either need to catch them on an off day or stifle the way they like to play, probably a bit of both. If you do try to match them, and their multi million pound squad, 9 times out of 10 they will thrash you.

This 100%.

In a purists game of football, far superior footballers will come out on top. We’ve seen the quality of Lallana, who’d been a fringe player without (these days) the pace of his younger LFC team-mates.

We either need to be savvy and spoilers, or just accept that 90% of the time that we’re give a good game and the lose. We may get lucky where a club’s in turmoil such as the manager and players are imploding - Mourinho’s Manure, Emery’s Arsenal or Poch’s Spuds at the very end.

Micky Adams assembled a superb team-spirited unit that Peter Taylor only had to do a steering job on - apart from bringing in Junior Lewis obviously - for the Double Championes. Potter, on the other hand, has assembled a squad of largely interchangeable meh players. That's why none of us can double-guess the starting line-up. That's why none of the players can even BEGIN to form an understanding with the players next to them in the llne-up. Last time we had that was the Ryan-Dunk-Duffy wall that gained us an extra season in the Prem. Been downhill ever since, starting with BDB and continuing with Webster. IMHO, like

No, I was talking about Micky Adams at Leicester. He took over when they were relegated, got them promoted and then relegated and has never had a chance of working in the Premier League again. I suspect Potter's only chance to work in the Premier League is with us right now, I don't think anyone else will hire him at this level again. I think, in hindsight, Micky Adams was probably overrated and Potter certainly is now.

Can't agree with that - we've gone, in one season and seven games, interrupted by a Pandemic, from playing football even we didn't find any joy in, to playing progressive attractive attacking football. We've been properly beaten by only one side - Everton. We were very unlucky vs Chelsea, gypsies curse level unlucky vs Manure, narrowly lost to a very expensive Spurs side, etc etc - Now I get you make your own luck, should be more clinical etc but the results will come. Two seasons ago without Dunk or Duffy, I'd have assumed we'd get nothing from our last three games and we're aggrieved to to have seven points. Playing wonderful stuff in fits and starts. With a young side coupled with some experienced talent - Potter may be many things but he's a very good manager who wants us to be brave and progressive and the results will come

Whilst I completely agree, they need to start coming soon . . . . Before depressive rot sets in, playing nice football and losing narrowly only gets you so far. I think we reverted to getting a job done when last season restarted, and did so . . . . How long we continue with project 'sexy disco' football without getting a break isn't my call to make, but at the end of the day we need to win games and secure points.
