I'd be interested to know if anyone on here has done the museum, the house in Portlligat and the Castle in Pubol. Is it worth doing all three and if so how long should we allow. Is it possible to do the three in one day or would it be better over two?

I'm sure that some of the great and good of NSC have intimate knowledge of this area of Spain and would appreciate your thoughts.

Drove into Figueras once with a view to going to that museum - and drove straight out again. Pig of a place.

However, we then drove on to Cadaques (Ka-da-kez) where he had a summer house. Fabulous little village on one of those rocky inlets they have along that part of the coast. No Dalí museum as such, but a lot of his work and influence is there when you wander round.

Oh, and there's also lots of gorgeous bikini-clad women with large breasts.

Haven't been there myself. The beeb have been doing a series on modern (20th century) artists, the last in the series is about Dali, think it is on at 9pm on Sunday. The first three were excellent, on Warhol, Matisse and Picasso, if they are anything to judge by the last should be good too.

Been there twice. It's great and although, as TLO says, the town's a dump you won't regret visiting the museum as it houses some Dali classics including the Mae West room which is brilliant. Apparently when Dali was alive he used to come to the museum and just change his exhibits - that's what I call living art!

Been to the town and Museum. Both worth a visit (Although my memory is a bit foggy, was 8 years ago!)

If you go to the museum, try to book in advance. We queued for at least 2 hours to get in, but still worth it! House at Cadaques was also fab, but again, book in advance if you go during the holidays.

NSC is a mine of good information. I was set on staying in Figeuras but it seems Cadaques, a visit to the Dali house there and a drive to the museum is gonna be the best option. Thanks for the info guys

Three times and would do a fourth.

As for the town ... there is a SUPERB cafe in the main street that is more than "worth a visit". It's worth moving into the place to enjoy on a daily basis. Straight out of the 1950s.
