don't know if it true but more people in california are insured against alien abduction than have passports. (Quite possible this is complete fiction though)

Yes that's very true but there again, if you'd have been to some of the backwaters I have been to (and I think you have) then you'll know how little so many of them know about anything outside of their city limits.

Still, in fairness I know that kind of insularity can be found anywhere, it's just more prevelent in the US.

The worst Ive ever seen it was on Holiday showdown last week, a Bristol family that for the last 17years have holidayed in Bristol !!

thats just wrong on SO many levels !!

Damn right ! It's not the preserve of the Americans and frankly al ot of their problem is that their TV never shows anything other than American shows (except PBS but nobody watches that anyway). Thus they have little idea of where anywhere else is. My step daughter was quite staggered by walking around a graveyard in a small church opposite Arundel Cathedral as some of the graves were older than America.

There some Brits with very strange ideas, holidaying in Bristol being very odd !
