I've been made redundant twice and although at the time it was horrible, both times I've gone on to far greater things that no doubt I would never have done without it.
The house thing sounds harsh, but just try to keep as positive as you can. When one door closes, others open, it's just sometimes hard to see them.
I wish you the best of luck with everything, remember the NSC community (some of it) will help you in any ways possible.

Bad times - so sorry.

Are you able to go for that role, or was it indicated that perhaps you should? If so, you have the benefit of some time to try and find additional work to fill the income loss you are going to be hit with.

Need to be careful as the benefits that redundancy might make you eligible for might be affected? Got made redundant by a large Brighton employer after 17 years(must have needed the cash for sponsorship) but managed to get a job in Croydon! Big mistake it was an awful company and left after 11 months but lost any financial help i would have got after my original redundancy:down:

Best of luck in the future! In the long run getting my redundant was the best thing for me,so look at it as a new start:wink:

I have been made redundant twice in my life and each time it has led to better things (wasn't so sure after the second one at first!). Chin up and good luck!

Good luck dude, that's a tough break and a text message on Saturday is a horrid way for them to inform you.. On the plus side, that argus award you're in the running for will look excellent on a CV! Best wishes

Really sorry about your shitty news and feel for you.

I was made redundant 3 years ago after 25 years from my old job and it's a scary time.

I managed to find a job in a completely different sector and have never been happier.
Try and keep positive there will be something out there for you. Good luck.

Hey guys. Well, it's official, I'm gonna be jobless at the end of August. The caretaker role will no longer exist, but a head cleaner role will be put in place. That will be on a different pay scale and only 22.5 hours as opposed to the 37 I'm currently doing.
2016, the year I lost my job AND house. Wow.
Very sorry to hear that, happened to me and most unpleasant (although I can't imagine what losing the house as well would feel like and hope I never have to find out). Hope you are able to get something at an equivalent level (or higher) sooner rather than later.

Good luck man, as others have said, I have a feeling that things will turn out well for you. I'm a great believer that people generally end up getting what they deserve out of life and it sounds like you deserve much better than this. Undoubtedly their loss will be someone else's gain....

Sorry to hear about the redundancy mate. It may not be much use but I work in recruitment specialising in maintenance jobs like caretakers for schools and public buildings etc, although I'm based in the Midlands I have a colleague that's based in London that sometimes has positions in Sussex. I can PM my contact details to you if it's any use? Let me know and good luck either way!

I'm sorry that I can't offer guaranteed good news but having been made redundant years ago I fell in to working as a teaching assistant then qualified to teach so worked out well almost by accident. Given what you say about your award nomination I wonder if there might be something you could explore in that area to make up the time you would lose. Almost inevitably the hours for the revised role would make it difficult to impossible to do a second job anywhere else so doubling up on jobs there might be a viable option

Sounds like you're head teacher is trying to do this on the cheap,it won't work as the use of contractors doing your jobs will cost more than they pay you false economy gutted for you !!

That's crap news, many commiserations, mate. I've been made redundant three times now, but each time I've ended up going on to better things. It's ok to feel rubbish at the moment, but do dust yourself down, look up and around and you'll find something else.

Sorry to hear about your situation.

I've had severe depression to the point where I've suffered breakdowns and felt like there's only one solution to it. Last year I was nearly homeless through a psychotic episode and that was the most scared I've ever been in my life. I really hope things get better for you mate. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

So sorry for you JB, a right kick in the teeth. I really hope that for some reason this was meant to be and in a short time that you will be in a better position than you were before this double whammy.. fingers crossed.
