Pathetic here too! Ashes holders, 1-0 up in the one dayers, T20 world champs and just beaten you in the rugby as we did in the last two world cups. Looks like Big Brother is dominating again.

Sign me up in the 'pathetic' crowd please, Australia every time. How any Aussie had the nerve to coin the phrase 'Whingeing Pom' is incredible, they are the worst losers on the planet bar none. Then Scotland.

I'm mellowing towards Germany *heresy*, it started after having such a great time in 2006 over there, and they have a reasonably young and entertaining side these days.
This. Except there is nothing "heresy" about mellowing towards Germany.

It's a totally unrequited rivallry, and they have nothing but respect for English football and English football culture. Odd really, because we win f*** all.

I think it depends on the sport. Australia at cricket and Rugby League (as has been pointed out no one on earth whinges like a beaten Aussie), New Zealand at rugby union, America at golf and tennis (not much chance of that at the mo'), and probably Argentina at football.

A lot of that isn't because I hate the countries involved, far from it, (except Argentina obviously) but just because they usually beat us and consequently it's nice to turn the tables.

Can't hate the Germans at all. Sorry.

Wanting to beat a team in a sport doesn't meant you hate them. Don't confuse the two

Absolutely not cofusing the two. I was just pre-empting the usual binfest that a thread like this tends to produce. Thankfully at the moment it seems rather good.

Always satisfying to see Australia lose at cricket. The smaller the opponent, the more intense the satisfaction.

Football - I get a certain amount of satisfaction seeing Brazil lose. One, it's often nice seeing a big team lose; you know, support the underdog and all that. And two, their true colours come out when they're losing; they start playing like, well, Uruguay in 1986.

There are many examples of this (even up to date ones), but one of the best is from Holland v Brazil 1974. Hackmongous maiming.

Football: The Argies, the Germans(mainly because they ruined my footballing supporting youthhood in 90 and 96. This has eased over the last 10 years or so though after beating them in euro 2000 and that 5-1 game.) I also

Rugby: the french and aussies.take great delight in beating the kiwis as they appear to be the most arrogant set of fans ever. Dont really care if we lose to them so not sure it really counts.

Cricket: don't really care about cricket but it brightens my day briefly if we beat the aussies.

Other sports: don't care.
