More amazing is that Howard and Jason can actually sing! I thought they were taken on board initially as dancers more than anything else.

I missed out on the wonderful experience that must have been the original Take That. If Robbie Williams fronted the band I saw on telly last night, I have to say they must be better as a four-piece.
They are obviously talented performers, and apparently they write some of their material?
The chavvy looking smirk of RW would be out of place, and I they wouldn't have benefitted from a 'front man' last night.

To be honest Robbie was behind Gary, Mark and even Jason in terms of fronting the band. He was no loss and they could have carried on when he left without any problems.

It's not something I'd ever buy or go out of my way to watch, but say you were a band management agency - are you ever going to turn down bands like Take That?

I would sign-em up in a heartbeat, then go buy ALL the rare 1960's psychedelic singles and albums I ever wanted in top mint condition with the takings I would be raking in.

They are entertaining and talented, and after all this X-factor DROSS on British television, I was relieved to see a group with more than the slightest bit of any value for airtime.

As for punk, the same thing goes. There were punk bands that really were stuck on 3 chords and a crap attitude, that were shite and unimaginative, ...or some that could turn out some sophisticated and rousing music.

Never over-estimate punk, it was still a load of kid-ology that fooled people into thinking they were recklessly abandoning the social structure by buying it. Swindle for filthy lucre.
At the time, 'Never Mind The Sex Pistols' that everyone reveres and states as THE turning point in music, was hired-gun Chris Spedding making a few quid by playing the simplest stuff he'd ever been asked to do. It blew away the (polar opposite) overcomplexities of 'YES' though, as such as these had reached an illogical conclusion.

How people view the image of their entertainment is intrinsic to whether it is 'cool' or 'uncool'. You Oasis fans who respect them for their nose-thumbing and ignoramus attitudes seem capable of ignoring the fact that the music is still rather stoic if not very old-fashioned and overblown. You may as well be buying Take That as that's just another boy-band, except 'it does what it says on the tin'. They really AREN'T pushing boundaries in music or doing ANYTHING new, ....... no more than Take That.

Er...by the way Zed, I should have made it clear that the 'wonderful experience' statement was tinged with sarcasm, as the sight and sound of Robbie Williams (to someone who was not familiar with his rise to fame) only makes me happy I missed out on what must've been the Spice Boys of 90's bands.

They need to drop the dance routines.

Judging by their type of audience Wookiee, I don't think they are seeking credibility with the serious discerning or 'underground' music buyer!

They are obviously doing that stuff to entertain - and a different audience to what you might represent.
Let's put it this way; are you going to rush out and buy their CDs, and qeue up to see their concerts if they just cut the dance routines?
