I'm playing 9 holes of golf at Benfield after work today. In this fun, easy-to-play quiz, lets see how many of you can correctly guess how many I'll go round in. My all-time record stands at 37. When I last played 2 weeks ago, I went round in 40, and I am usually in the mid-to low 40's. My mental state today can be described as "mildly content". I do not have too much playing on my mind, and I feel in peek physical shape (well, round IS a shape). when you're ready then.

Have you told Mrs East-to-be about this yet? You do have the disgraceful track record off sodding off to the golf course when you are in fact supposed to be seeing someone else.

Just back from the post-match pint after the round (and yes TLO, the missus was fully aware I was playing a round this afty).

I managed to salvage, yes SALVAGE a disastrous 47 today. Started with a tidy 4, but then a crippling TEN on the long-ish 2nd basically blew the whole round out of the water. Fluffed the tee shot, scuffed a shot into the deep rough next to the green, and its like a f***ing JUNGLE there. I should have taken a drop, but foolishly thought "naah, I can chop this out". A couple of hacks later, and the ball still stubbornly in the rough, meant I had my "angry head" well and truley on. A couple more vicious swipes and I was finally on the green, but the red mist was still upon me, resulting in a 3-putt.

Its hard to recover from that, and I was distinctly average for 3 more holes before picking up and finishing with a flourish, but the damage had been done by then. However, one small consolation was that my partner and I won the Fourball Matchplay 2 & 1.

I WILL be better next time. I know it. But well done those who forcasted the 46+ GOON score. You were spot on.
