Word of advice about Amsterdam (esp. Red Light/"Lanes" area) do NOT enter conversation with the black kiddies that loiter around cos as soon as they clock you're English they won't leave you alone trying to tap you up for buying drugs. Say to them "ni" - Russian for no cos the Russian mafia run the show there and they'll shit themselves.

Ive been to the place 5 times , went last week, and before that the last time was the early 90's , i cant believe how much the smell of grass permeates literally the whole of the red light area compared to 20 years ago.

I was just thinking exactly the same last Saturday. You don't have to go into the coffeeshops any more to get high - just walk through the RLD and inhale...
